But Blake didn't care. "It's just a common issue women deal with. What's there to make a fuss about?"
Herman frowned. He knew his words carried no weight.
He went to pour himself a glass of water, then sat down on the couch to the side, staying quiet.
Blake didn't pay attention to him and continued with her own work.
Being in the same room while each did their own thing was something they were used to.
They didn't need to constantly focus on each other, nor did they need to take care of one another.
Since Blake was on her period, she only looked over reports for about half an hour before running out of energy.
When she looked up, she noticed Herman staring at her, as if lost in thought, clearly preoccupied.
Blake found it a bit surprising. "Is your sister's situation that hard to deal with?"
Herman wanted to say that what he had been thinking about wasn't Melody, but her.
But when the words reached his lips, he said instead, "Her emotional state is worse than I expected. It won't be resolved anytime soon."
"Get her a therapist and set up regular sessions," Blake said instinctively, offering a practical solution.
"That's the plan."
"She'll also need someone watching her," Blake added.
Herman frowned, his expression not looking great.
Blake looked at him. "What's wrong with you?"
She had the time to care about someone unrelated to her, but not about her own health?
Herman knew he was getting worked up.
He was worried about Blake, but there was nothing he could do, and that frustration turned inward.
Blake didn't get a response, so she didn't press it. "Looks like I overstepped. I'm going to rest and adjust to the time difference."
Her gaze shifted toward the door.
It was clear what she meant. If they couldn't talk, he could leave.
Herman suppressed the urgency in his chest. "How many days will the pain last?"
"The first two days are the worst. After that, it's fine," Blake said casually.
Herman replied coolly, "Then make sure you always have painkillers ready."
After saying that, he stood up and left.
Blake was confused.
Who had upset Herman? Why did he look like he was in such a bad mood?
Blake didn't keep him in her thoughts, but being met with his cold attitude still left her puzzled.
After the hotel door closed, Blake set down her phone and rested for a while.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
