Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 908

Herman had always given Blake a sense of detachment, as if he were impossible to pin down.

She believed he had never taken this relationship all that seriously either. Sometimes, he put walls between them. Other times, he acted like an easygoing companion, shifting between intimacy and distance while remaining the perfect sex partner.

In whatever they had, Herman had never been the one at a disadvantage.

That was the feeling he had given her from the very beginning.

Who would have thought he would actually say he wanted to take care of her?

It came with absolutely no warning.

Blake still had no idea how he truly saw her, but she guessed he probably viewed her the same way he came across to her—detached and distant.

He must have sensed by now that she wanted nothing from him emotionally and had no need for his financial support.

Even though he knew she had no interest in a romantic relationship, he still insisted on offering to take care of her, which made absolutely no sense.

That was simply asking for unnecessary trouble.

Blake found the whole thing baffling. She asked, "Did James really get under your skin that badly? It seems like you suddenly want to fall in love."

Herman's current approach was a calculated move against her. He avoided being too direct, knowing he couldn't simply confess his feelings for her outright.

However, he also refused to keep acting the way he had in the past, pretending what they had meant nothing.

Herman spoke in a steady tone. He said, "You're not in good shape right now. I want to take care of you."

Blake questioned him, "Is that it?"

Herman answered, "Maybe if I keep taking care of you, our relationship might turn into something different."

Hearing that, Blake raised an eyebrow. "It seems like you're waiting for me to give you a chance."

Herman stated, "If you don't, I'll have to find a way to push a little harder and make you agree."

She figured she had uncovered a fraction of his genuine motives. He simply wanted to try and see if there was another path for them. He wanted something beyond casual intimacy, something closer to a real commitment.

That reasoning fit his current state of mind. She would believe pigs could fly than believe this man had truly developed feelings for her.

She stated, "I don't need anyone to take care of me."

That was her way of turning down his offer.

He didn't seem surprised at all. He said, "I knew you'd say that."

Blake replied, "Then leave."

Herman rose to his feet. But instead of leaving, he said, "I already told you if you refuse, I was going to be a little more forceful."

Is he finally making his moves?

Individuals hardened by corporate battles could easily distinguish between defensive and offensive moves.

She could tell at this moment, he was officially making his move on her.

Blake scowled. She said, "Then you'd better know how far to push when it comes to 'being forceful'."

He approached her carefully, his heart in his throat. Still, he kept up a refined, suave, and utterly dominant front.

That's the woman I have my eye on. She's quick-witted, but damn, she's ruthless. Every word out of her mouth cuts straight into me.

Yet she's the only one who can give me that distinct, intense thrill.
