Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 916

He was already too tired to argue with Blake. "Just do the surgery first."

Blake said, "I'm still thinking about it..."

Herman ran his fingers through her hair. "You're not thinking about it anymore. Listen to me."

Blake said, "What right do you have to decide this for me?"

Herman's eyes turned sharp and intense. "I've got plenty of rights. A future boyfriend. Or even your husband."

Blake was stunned by his respond.

Herman had really lost it.

And something about him felt off. It was a calm kind of madness. On the surface, he looked the same as always, but there was something more dangerous in him now.

When Herman got forceful, he really meant it. Blake had lost too much blood this time. If Kaia hadn't been there, things could've gotten very serious. Even if she insisted on not rushing into surgery and wanted to observe a little longer, she had no friends nearby to fully support her. She had no real ground to stand on.

So she ended up having the surgery in the city where she was on a business trip.

Herman handled everything. He contacted the best doctors, learned the full surgery process, and went over every possible risk.

During Blake's entire hospital stay, Herman took care of everything.

At first, Kaia was shocked. But when she occasionally saw the worry and quiet affection in his eyes, she understood everything.

Of course, she didn't dare say anything.

Unless Blake and Herman decide to go public.

On the second day after surgery, to prevent blood clots, Blake had to get out of bed and walk. Herman held her hand and walked with her at a slow pace.

Blake had seen everything Herman had done for her during the surgery and after.

"Thank you, Herman."

She was truly thanking him from the bottom of her heart. Herman's level of care shocked her so much that she didn't even know what to say.

Even the slowest person would understand by now.

Herman really did care about her and worry about her, and that was why he went this far. Real worry couldn't be faked.

And when she woke up after the surgery, the first thing she saw was Herman, who greeted her with another kiss on the forehead.

One thing after another hit Blake hard.

A side of Herman she had never truly seen.

She didn't know when she had started ignoring him, to the point that she was only now, in a messy way, accepting the depth of his feelings.

These days, Herman didn't bother hiding anything anymore. He cared for her, worried about her, looked at her with gentle eyes, and was very direct about it. He even seemed worried she wouldn't understand and said things in an even more direct way.

After the elegant mask fell away, this was his true self.

She really couldn't handle this.

Just one small illness had set Herman into this state—this was insane.

Luckily, that bottle of painkillers had already made Blake start to see things more clearly, and after watching him personally take care of her these past few days, she could actually feel it now. Without that, she wouldn't have been able to take his confession seriously at all.

Now she could feel it.

And it still felt unbelievable.

A woman like Blake, who had no romantic instincts at all, honestly didn't know how she was supposed to respond.

She even felt a little awkward—and a little guilty.

She had no idea why she would feel guilty.

After processing it for a moment, she looked at him and said, "I'm honestly shocked."

Herman said, "Yeah. I hid it too well."

Blake got goosebumps. "Since when did this start?"

Herman looked at her awkward expression. He had originally wanted to lay everything out and tell her about his long-hidden feelings. But suddenly, he changed his mind. Maybe secret love really did mess with a person's mind. He got a little annoying on purpose. "Start what?" he asked, acting innocent.

He wanted to make her say it clearly.
