Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 931

Shawn had it all planned out. He could already picture Winnie's face, the excitement, and the tears of joy when she saw the diamond necklace.

But what he got instead was an empty apartment.

He called her. No answer. He sent people to look for her. No one could find her.

Then he dug deeper. Turned out, while he was in Redmont, Winnie had gone to the airport and taken off on a private jet.

The problem was that the airport wasn't under the Jackmans' control, and they took client confidentiality very seriously.

Shawn couldn't get the flight details.

Shawn could claim to love Winnie while simultaneously getting engaged to Felicia, largely because he was a firm believer in marriage alliances.

Having as many lovers as you want wasn't a problem. But when it came to marriage, you had to find someone of equal status. Someone who could strengthen the family and help it grow even more powerful.

Winnie was never good enough for that. She'd never be qualified to be his wife. In his mind, she was meant to be his mistress for life. And he saw nothing wrong with that.

Winnie had been with him for so long and was always so understanding. Shawn thought she should've understood why he would never marry her. He expected her to have some self-awareness, be a good mistress, and she could still live a good life.

Besides, meeting him was the best thing that had ever happened to her. She should've been grateful. Breaking up with him was a mistake. Vanishing completely was even worse.

So what went wrong? Why did she leave?

Even now, Shawn was still trying to process the fact that Winnie was gone. It felt absurd, so he chose not to believe it.

One day passed. Two days. Five days... Still no word from Winnie. Slowly, reluctantly, he started accepting that she really wanted to end things.

Shawn had the typical flaws of a wealthy heir, but he wasn't a male chauvinist. If he were, he wouldn't have gone through the trouble of having Winnie groomed and educated. After all, finding an obedient woman was easy. What he genuinely enjoyed was watching a woman step into her own and blossom.

So for the first time, he tried to see things from Winnie's perspective.

Maybe she wanted a love that belonged entirely to her. Maybe she loved him too much to accept him marrying someone else.

She took love seriously. She meant it. That was why it was so obvious how good she was. She really was a good girl.

He was the one who messed up. He'd let her down.

Shawn found himself obsessively reflecting on his own mistakes. He'd screwed up. That was why she left. That was why she disappeared without a word.

Once he found her, once he brought her home, he'd apologize properly. She'd come back to him!

But there was another problem.

If he wanted Winnie back, he'd have to break off his engagement to Felicia. And that meant going against his entire family. Without that marriage alliance, he'd have to work much harder to secure his influence.

For Winnie? Was it worth it?
