Lucas nodded and said, “I never believed a word she said, and there’s no way I’d ever get together with her. It’s just…”

“Just what?” Teresa pressed.

But Lucas fell silent. Yalena had said that if Lucas agreed to be with her, she’d finally let Teresa and Mike off the hook. Lucas just couldn’t find the words to bring that up.
