“Alright, I’ll respect your choice. Please don’t cry anymore. I don’t want to see you like this,” Jonathan said, hurriedly wiping away her endless tears.

Jonathan gently dabbed away her tears, being extra careful not to touch the wound on her face.

When Teresa looked up, she saw the worry and pain etched on his face, his brows knit in concern for her. Unable to hold back her feelings any longer, she rose on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his.

Jonathan froze for a second, staring down at Teresa’s face as she kissed him with her eyes closed. He gently pulled her away. “Teresa, do you even realize what you’re doing?” Jonathan asked, his voice tinged with both worry and surprise.

Teresa blinked, coming back to her senses as the alcohol’s fog faded just a little. Her eyes were still hazy and unfocused. “Sorry, maybe I am drunk.”

In the next instant, Jonathan suddenly pressed his lips to hers again. This time, his kiss was fierce and overwhelming. He shifted from being passive to taking the lead, and Teresa’s back was pressed against the sofa as his kiss left her breathless.

Teresa nearly lost her balance, but Jonathan caught her in his arms. Reluctantly, he finally let go of her lips, lingering for a moment as if he couldn’t bear to part.

He took off his coat and wrapped it around her. “Come with me. You need a good night’s sleep,” Jonathan said.

“But I haven’t finished my work yet. I still have a few contracts left,” Teresa replied weakly.

“Bring them home, I’ll help you,” Jonathan replied, quickly tidying up her desk and gathering her papers. He took Teresa’s hand and tucked it into his pocket. “Come on, let’s go home.”

Teresa’s head was still a little fuzzy. But at the same time, she was perfectly aware of what she was doing and where she was.

Jonathan had told her to take it easy and clock out on time, but for the next few days, she stayed just as busy as ever. She was so busy that she didn’t even have time to pick up the kids herself.

Since Jonathan came back, he’d been the one looking after Michael and Felix; pretty much handling everything on his own. With him around, Teresa could throw herself into work without a second thought.

In the afternoon, Mike called Teresa. “Mom, where are you? I haven’t seen you these past few days.”

“I’m sorry, Mike. I’ve had so many meetings lately. I’m still at the office,” Teresa replied.

Mike let out a little huff, sounding a bit pouty. “Okay. It was Mr. Lime who was always busy, and now it’s you.”

Teresa realized she’d been neglecting her kids. “I’ll do my best to come home early tonight, okay?”
