Teresa was lost in thought when Gary walked in to visit her. “Take a seat,” she said.

Gary sighed. “I still owe you an apology. I was too careless and ended up giving Yalena the chance to pull her tricks.”

Teresa replied, “It’s not your fault. I was the one who ran out on impulse. By the way, what happened to Jonathan’s right hand? You said he almost killed Yalena. What exactly happened?”

Gary explained, “After you gave birth, Jonathan left the maternity ward by himself. His friend, the lawyer, said Jonathan was going to kill someone, so he rushed out to find him and managed to bring him back.

“Luckily, he stopped Jonathan. As for his hand, when he came to Jarisburg and found out you had a premature birth, he punched a wall out of frustration. I told him to get it bandaged, but he said it didn’t hurt and he didn’t care.”

Gary sighed again. “Can’t you two just get back together for real?”

Teresa frowned and asked, “How do you know?”

Gary admitted, “While you were unconscious, Miriam was chewing Jonathan out for not keeping you safe. Benny and Edward were there too, and I caught some of it from outside the door.

“We all know you two didn’t actually get back together. You just did it to keep up appearances. But can’t you just make it real? You have two kids now.”

Teresa fell silent again. As long as Irene was around, there was no future for them. Teresa used to put up with Irene to avoid making things difficult for Jonathan, but now she finally figured it out.

Being kind and forgiving didn’t work with people who took advantage of her. It only made them bolder, thinking they could walk all over her.

From now on, whether it was Yalena or Irene, Teresa wouldn’t let them bully her or her family anymore. “There’s no way Jonathan and I are ever getting back together,” Teresa said firmly.

Jonathan picked up Michael. “Mike, let’s step out for a bit. Come on.”

Once Jonathan left, Miriam sat down next to Teresa. She finally got Teresa all to herself for a moment. “You promised I’d be by your side when you had the baby, but this time you didn’t let me,” Miriam said, sounding a little hurt.
