Tobias’ eyes blazed with Kitting intent. “Ashton has to die. Otherwise, he’ll interfere with our plan to seize Eden and Zolane.”

“Ashton is the King of Javonbury?” Hera furrowed her brow. “What business does he have in Zolane, then?”

“If my hunch is right, he’s after the same thing we are controlling Eden and seizing Zolane. He probably thinks that by taking Zolane, he’ll finally have the leverage to challenge the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. He’s being utterly delusional!” Tobias snarled, narrowing his eyes.

“I’ve already called for assassins from the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. You’ll assist me in finishing him off, as we can’t afford to let Ashton get in the way of our plan!”

“Does this mean Ashton actually possesses medical skills?” Hera asked gravely.

Tobias’ expression hardened. “He’s full of it! How could someone like him cure Eden’s chills syndrome when someone from the Heavenly Medical Pavilion couldn’t? He’s simply bluffing!”

Hera nodded, saying, “If that’s the case, then we’ll proceed as planned. You are to have Eden under your control in three days. I don’t care what you do to her. I only care about becoming the next Queen of Zolane.”

Tobias exclaimed, “You can rest assured that you’ll be the Queen of Zolane in three days and a permanent ally of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion!”

In the meantime, Eden sat in a meditative pose, using her peak divine realm energy to examine her body from within. “It seems like the chill has subsided–and I don’t sense anything out of the ordinary. Is it possible to trust the Heavenly Medical Pavilion?

Eden recalled Ashton’s remarks and some of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion’s actions, and fell into contemplation.

She took out the talisman Ashton had given her earlier. She felt a burning energy emanating from it that eased the chill in her limbs, leaving her with a pleasant sense of relief. “It seems like his energy complements mine perfectly.”

She shook her head, pushing the thoughts away.

Her main priority now was to keep her chills syndrome in check. She knew that if the syndrome went out of control again, her entire body would be encased in ice, her vital organs would shut down, and she would face a total demise of both body and soul.

She could potentially break through to the otherworldly realm if she could manage the chills syndrome.

She knew that stepping into that realm would mean her position as the Queen of Zolane was no longer ifjeopardy. She had to remain on guard against the Heavenly Medical Pavilion and every other encroaching threat until then.

It wasn’t long before three days flew by, and as the night deepened, a scattering of stars appeared across the horizon.

Hera and Tobias arrived at the main hall where Eden was waiting.

Upon spotting Eden dressed in her form-fitting dress, Tobias’ eyes brightened. He swallowed hard, a frantic lust burning in his gaze as if this exquisite woman were already his to claim.

“It’ll be our final session tonight, Ms. Eden. You’ll be able to keep the chills syndrome under control for at least a year or so after that, giving us time to find a way to eradicate it for good,” Tobias explained, his wrinkled face breaking into a grin.

Eden looked into Tobias’ cloudy eyes and felt a sudden sense of anxiety and disgust. She nodded anyway, saying, “I’ll be in your hands, Dr. McGrath. If the chills syndrome is contained, Zolane will establish a long-term partnership with the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. I’ll reward you handsomely as well.”
