Chapter 1033
Eden looked beautiful even with the coldness hanging over her features. She saw right through the Heavenly Medical Pavilion’s objectives. She had repeatedly rejected their cooperation to protect Zolane’s sovereignty and keep their factions from gaining a foothold.
Yet, as tensions in Central Region intensified, Eden understood that failing to reach the otherworldly realm meant she couldn’t keep Zolane isolated from the chaos.
She was also pushed to the edge due to her chills syndrome. She felt that if Tobias could actually stabilize her condition, working with the Heavenly Medical Pavilion wouldn’t be such a bad trade-off, even if it meant giving up certain advantages.
She thought that the worst that could happen was being forced to relinquish her position in Zolane.
“I need you to let down your mental guard and let my energy flow into your body, Ms. Eden. It’s the most crucial part of the process, so if anything goes wrong and the chills syndrome flares up, your life will be beyond saving.” Tobías stated solemnly.
“I’m confident you’ll recover after tonight, Hera. You won’t have to endure the agony of the chills syndrome ever again!” Hera said, feigning a look of concern.
“I truly have to thank you, Hera. If you hadn’t worked so hard to bring Dr. McGrath over, I’d likely still be suffering terribly from the chills syndrome.
“I’ve actually already drafted my will-should the chills syndrome return and take my life, Zolane and all my assets and authority will go to you,” Eden explained with a faint smile.
Hera trembled slightly after hearing that, disbelief flashing across her face. “E-Eden…”
Eden explained, “I’m stepping down after today, regardless of how my condition turns out, and you’ll be the one running
Zolane from here on out, Hera.”
Hera furrowed her brow slightly as she looked at Eden, the person she had grown up with. She suddenly remembered their earlier years when they were isolated and defenseless. They had suffered through much bullying to reach this point, where they now held total authority over Zolane.
However, she harbored a deep-seated resentment toward Eden.
She wondered why Eden was the one crowned Queen of Zolane and why Eden received all the fame and adoration, while she remained a secondary figure, existing only to make Eden look more beautiful and formidable. She felt like nothing more than a tool, never once acknowledged in her own right.
She loathed her lack of recognition and hungered for the center stage. She wanted to become the Queen of Zolane, wanting the same adoration and respect that Eden received. She envied everything Eden had, her envy turning into a frantic jealousy and a
twisted hatred.
She eventually agreed to the partnership when Tobias approached her with a proposal, intending to use Eden as a stepping stone to achieve her own ambitions.
She found it absolutely incredulous that Eden was now claiming she would step down for her. She didn’t want a handout. She intended to take what she desired by force. She had no use for Eden’s fake generosity. She was tired of being submissive and hated Eden’s effortless air of superiority.
She wanted Eden to suffer a fate worse than death and have her disgraced by Tobias–that loathsome man. She meant to make Eden pay for every ounce of resentment she had ever felt.
“You shouldn’t say such a thing, Eden. Zolane wouldn’t be the same without you! You and I can work side-by-side to expand our influence once you’ve recovered from the chills syndrome-and someday, we’ll be the ones ruling from the top!” Hera exclaimed, maintaining her smile.
