Everyone gasped at Hugo’s gruesome condition and turned toward Ashton in shock. None of them expected him to be this bold. To them, he clearly didn’t care about the consequences.

The crowd immediately backed away, afraid of getting dragged into it.

“Avenge me, Mr. Marlowe!”

Hugo’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. He no longer had the strength to stand and would probably be crippled for the rest of his life.

“Stay behind me. I’ll help you find your daughter,” he promised her.
