Chapter 136
An ugly look crept onto Sylvia’s face when she saw Calvin. She glanced at Conrad and instantly understood what was going on. Calvin had somehow convinced Conrad to help him go after Evermore Club.
“Ms. Langley, let’s skip the pleasantries. I’m here today because we received a tip from a concerned citizen that your club is colluding with criminals to sell contraband under the table and coerce respectable women into prostitution. Do you acknowledge these crimes?” Conrad snorted, pressing hard.
“Selling contraband? Coercing women into prostitution?” Sylvia repeated.
If those charges stuck, Evermore Club would certainly be shut down. This was a vicious play!
Her expression turned grave. She said, “Chief Nell, Evermore Club has always operated by the book. We’d never do anything illegal. There must be some misunderstanding. Why don’t we go upstairs to talk?”
“There’s no need for that. We’ll clear things up right here.” Conrad narrowed his eyes and continued coldly, ” From what I know, there’s a man named Ashton Gray who’s been mixed up in the underworld for years.
“He’s the one responsible for selling contraband here and coercing prostitution. Hand him over, Ms. Langley. I’m taking him back for questioning. I expect your cooperation.”
As expected, they weren’t just out to get Evermore Club. Ashton was who they were after!
Sylvia quickly steadied herself. “Ashton is the current person in charge at Evermore Club. Without solid evidence, Chief Nell, I don’t believe you can just arrest someone on a whim. That would be bad for Javonbury’s business climate. If the higher–ups take issue with this, I’m not sure even you can afford the consequences.

“Are you threatening me, Ms. Langley?” Conrad’s expression darkened. “I wouldn’t have come with this many men if I didn’t have evidence. Calvin, show Ms. Langley what we found.”
Calvin sneered and pulled out a bag of white powder. He said icily, “This is contraband we found at Evermore Club, Ms. Langley. Also, several women have turned themselves in, saying Ashton Gray threatened and forced them into prostitution.”
“That’s nonsense!”
Sylvia’s face flushed with anger. She could see through this frame–up at a glance.
“What now? We’ve got physical evidence and witnesses, yet you’re still denying this. I suggest you bring Ashton Gray out right away; otherwise, everyone in Evermore Club is getting hauled in. I’m afraid you’ll be the first to crack after a round of intense questioning, Ms. Langley.” Calvin cackled.
His plan was airtight. No matter how Sylvia or anyone from Evermore Club tried to argue, it would be in vain. Yes, he was framing them. So what?
Once Ashton was thrown into a cell, he’d force him to confess. That would settle everything, and Ashton could look forward to ten plus years behind bars!
“Why, you…” Sylvia’s face turned ashen.
If Ashton got taken away, things would get messy. She started panicking and had no choice but to swallow her anger as she spoke to Calvin. “Mr. Emerson, can’t you cut us some slack?”

Chapter 136
She knew he was the mastermind of this whole thing.
Calvin eyed her drop–dead gorgeous face and licked his dry lips, his eyes glinting filthily. “Are you begging me, Ms. Langley?”
“Yes, I am.” Sylvia bit her lip.
“Well, since you’ve asked, I’ll naturally have to consider it. How about this–spend the night with me and make sure I’m satisfied, then maybe, just maybe, I’ll let Ashton off this once.” He excitedly reached out to touch Sylvia’s flawless cheek.
She was voluptuous and enchanting, and he’d lusted after her for ages. He couldn’t wait to drag her into bed and toy with her. This was a once–in–a–lifetime chance!
But before Calvin’s hand could reach Sylvia’s cheek, a figure lunged forward like a bolt of lightning and slammed a fist into the former’s chest.
“How dare you lay a hand on my woman!”
Fresh off conquering Amelia, Ashton was in high spirits. His voice boomed when he spoke.
