Chapter 156
Lawrence affectionately patted Kayla on the head. She wiped her tears away before grabbing Ashton’s arm, saying anxiously, “Ashton! How’s my grandpa? Is he okay now?”
Ashton’s expression remained solemn. “I’ve only stopped His body from declining further for the moment. It’ll require a long period of treatment to ensure his full recovery.”
“But he can recover fully, right?” Kayla pressed expectantly
“I will definitely see to it that he does,” Ashton replied with a firm nod.
“Really?” Kayla exclaimed in tearful joy. “That’s great! That’s so good to hear! Did you hear him, Grandpa? You’re going to get better!”
Turning back to Ashton, she said guiltily, “Thank you, Ashton. I misunderstood you earlier. I had no idea you were this skilled…”
“It’s fine. Remember to spend the night with me,” Ashton said.
Kayla’s face turned red. She shot him a furious, embarrassed glare.
Lawrence kept glancing between the two of them, remaining silent as he smiled from ear to ear. He felt a renewed sense of hope in life.
“Mr. Clarkson Senior, for the next few years, you mustn’t use your inner energy. If you do so by force, those newly mended meridians and wounds will tear open again, and it’ll become far harder to treat you again,” Ashton cautioned.
“I’ll do as you say!” Lawrence replied with a smile.
“From now on, I’ll come over once a week. I’ll definitely see to it that you make a full recovery, Mr. Clarkson Senior.”
“Wonderful!”
Lawrence was in a great mood right now, and his tone was filled with pride. “I bet those people would never expect that a dying man like me could actually spring back to life again! They’ll be losing their sleep over this now!

“I’ll heighten the estate’s security at once, Mr. Clarkson Senior!” Neil spoke up.
He was also beside himself with joy, and when he looked at Ashton, his eyes were filled with gratitude.
If Ashton could save Lawrence’s life, Neil was willing to do whatever he could in exchange for that, even offering up his own life.
At last, he understood why Lawrence held Ashton in such high regard.
Just then, Christian fell to his knees and cried out earnestly “Dr. Gray! I beseech you to make me your mentee. I’m willing to serve you for the rest of my life!”
Everyone was dumbstruck by his sudden display.
Christian was an expert traditional medicine practitioner- legendary figure in Casoria’s medical world. Even when dealing with high–ranking authority figures like Lawrence, he carried himself with a degree of pride. He would even refuse to provide treatment without any qualm
Yet someone like him had actually gotten down on his knee to ask Ashton to take him on as a mentee. No one could believe what they were seeing.

“Isn’t that pushing it a little?” Clay wondered, his brows tightly knitted.
Ever since Ashton became the center of attention, he’d been completely ignored by everyone else, and this heightened his dislike for Ashton.
He became even more displeased when he saw Kayla expressing a new level of friendliness to Ashton.
Meanwhile, Felix remained silent, but his eyes were swimming with bloodlust.
As representatives from the Dominion Vanguard, he and Clay had come to visit Lawrence for several reasons, but the most important one was to confirm whether Lawrence was on the verge of death. If so, the Dominion Vanguard could proceed with its plan to absorb the Legion.
But now, everything had changed.
Taking a step back, Ashton said coolly, “I’m afraid I’m not worthy of such respect from a renowned medical expert like you, Dr. Donahue.”
“I do not deserve such laurels and respect from you, Dr. Gray! Feel free to address me as Chris. I truly wish to have you as my mentor. Please accept me!” Christian beseeched without any regard for his pride or dignity.
