Sylvia had just asked Ashton to take her. It was an extremely seductive thing to say, especially coming from someone as alluring as her. No man could resist such an invite.

Before Ashton could even respond, Sylvia took matters into her own hands. She began undressing him with her hands, pressing her body against his.

Both their heartbeats quickened. The air between them grew thick with desire.

In no time, most of Ashton’s shirt had been undone. Sylvia mustered up her courage and leaned in for a kiss.

At any second now, the flames of passion would combust and consume them both.

But right when they were about to lose control, a bright, cheerful voice suddenly rang out from downstairs, Sylvia! I decided to move back home! I’ll be staying with you from now on!

Sylvia’s expression collapsed. “It’s my younger sister, Melody! She previously… I can’t believe she actually came back at a time like this!”

Her face was red, and she looked panicked. Her eyes were filled with reluctance and indignation as well.

She’d been so close to sleeping with Ashton and achieving the dream she’d had for so many years now! Why did that darn Melody have to come back now, of all times?

“Why aren’t you in your room, Sylvia? Why’s there a light on here on the second floor?” Melody Langley called out, her footsteps drawing nearer.

Sylvia grew more and more frantic. How was she going to explain herself if Melody caught her seducing a man?

She rushed to pull a robe on.

“I’m coming in, Sylvia!”

The door swung open.

Ashton watched as Melody, a beautiful young woman, appeared in the doorway. She was dressed in a provocative outfit and all dolled up, radiating a youthful kind of feminine energy.

“Sylvia!” Spotting Sylvia, Melody flung herself into Sylvia’s arms and asked, “Did you miss me?”

Then, she froze. She finally noticed there was a man in the room.

Sylvia had brought a man home, and they’d been alone in a room just now!

Melody’s eyes widened in shock, her expression disbelieving.

Sylvia was one of the most beautiful women in Javonbury. The line of her suitors was long enough to stretch around the globe. However, she guarded her virtue and never got into any rumors with a man.

All along, Melody wondered if Sylvia was actually attracted to women instead. But now…

Knowing Melody’s personality, Sylvia was terrified Melody would offend Ashton somehow, so she quickly said,

“No!”

Melody released Sylvia and rudely scrutinized Ashton before interrogating him, “Answer me! What’s your relationship with my sister?”

“We’re friends,” Ashton replied evenly.

“Just friends, or are you two boyfriend and girlfriend?”

“For now, we’re still just friends.”

“Are you sure about that?”

Melody clearly didn’t buy it. She squared her shoulders and pressed on, “Sylvia has never let any man get close to her, let alone bring one home. Out with it! Who are you, what’s your background, and why should I believe you’re good enough for her?”

“Melody, go back to your room!” Sylvia snapped.

“No! Wait a minute. I remember now. You’re the guy in the photo that Sylvia keeps in her room!” Melody exclaimed.

“I’ve looked into you before. You’re the husband of Roxy Sloan, who lives next door. What are you doing in our house? Are you trying to cheat on Roxy, so you came here to make my sister a homewrecker?”

Infuriated, Melody screamed, “Get the hell out now! You’re not welcome here!”

She wasn’t going to let Sylvia’s reputation get damaged.

Sylvia was a gorgeous woman who was far beyond compare. How could she get entangled with a married man? If word got out about this, it would be a disaster for her!

More importantly, Melody had promised Damian Payne, the most distinguished scion in Javonbury, that she would keep an eye on Sylvia for him. Only someone like him was worthy of Sylvia! A guy like Ashton was nothing but trash!

Melody honestly couldn’t understand why Sylvia was so hung up on Ashton.

“Melody, Ashton and Roxy are getting a divorce. From today onward, he’ll be staying here.” Sylvia took a deep breath and quickly gripped Ashton’s arm.

“They’re getting a divorce?”

Melody swallowed hard before becoming even angrier. “That’s all the more reason why you can’t let him stay here, Sylvia! What right does a loser who got kicked to the curb have to stay here? What if he does something vile like force himself onto you?”
