In Edmund’s mind, no matter how capable Ashton was, he’d still be nothing but a joke when up against the Dominion Vanguard.

Clay stood there, as still as a statue. He didn’t move an inch. Edmund wanted him to have his men arrest Ashton? He would just be asking to be humiliated!

Others might not be aware, but he knew the Legion had Ashton’s back. Lawrence, the old codger, kept defending Ashton. He’d even thrown Kayla and Ashton together.

If Clay dared make a move, he’d only end up getting humiliated by Ashton again. He wouldn’t even have any grounds to complain!

“Clay, why do you look so grim? Don’t worry–once we take him in, I’ll make sure everything is handled well. I’ll even donate a sum to the Dominion Vanguard in my name!” Edmund said.

But Clay still didn’t move.

At that moment, everyone felt the mood shift. Confusion filled their gazes.

“I knew it. Edmund brought in people from the Dominion Vanguard, and not just anyone–the future head of the organization itself, Clay Jernigan! Ashton’s in real trouble now. Ashton shook his head. “He’s not worthy of being my friend. If anything, I’m his enemy.”

“Huh? His enemy? Then why isn’t he trying to get revenge?” Sheila looked baffled.

Ashton rested his hand on Natalie’s hip and smiled. “Probably because he doesn’t dare. He’s chickening out.”

With that, he lifted Natalie up and set her on her feet. He rose and took a step forward, looking at Edmund mockingly and saying, “So, this is the ‘power‘ you brought? This is who you think can keep me in check? This is the organization you thought would help you win back your pride?”

“Clay, did you see that? This is how arrogant he is–he doesn’t even respect you! He must be crushed, and we must make him live in agony and beg for death!” Edmund roared.

But no matter what he said, Clay didn’t budge. All that changed was that the look on his face grew uglier. Ashton was the last person he wanted to run into now!

“Clay…”

“Edmund finally realized something was wrong.

In a flash, Ashton darted forward like an arrow shot from a bow. His body was like an unbreakable mountain as he slammed straight into Edmund.

His speed was blistering, and his power overwhelming. Edmund’s eyes went wide with fear, and he instinctively tried to duck behind Clay.

However, Clay sidestepped him first.

With a loud bang, Ashton’s body crashed right into Edmund, whose frame seemed to shatter on impact. His bones snapped layer by layer, and his blood sprayed like fireworks. The tremendous force blasted him across the room, smashing a deep crater into the wall.

Edmund’s face contorted in agony, and blood spilled endlessly from the corner of his mouth.

“Did you see that? The ‘power‘ you invited doesn’t even come close to me!” Ashton said.
