Ashton let out a harsh, dismissive laugh. “You don’t have the final say in this matter! I’ll soon be taking Celia from the Sloan family, as per our agreement! The real danger is keeping Celia with a foolish, empty–headed mother like you!”
“P–Please stop arguing!” Renee pleaded, never realizing that today’s event would actually cement their separation.
She couldn’t help but wonder if reconciliation was truly hopeless at this point and how two people who had loved each other so deeply could reach such a bitter end.
Roxy’s eyes were bloodshot, fueled by the memory of Ashton’s cruel nature. She declared solemnly, “I’ll become stronger and expand Summit Group’s might through any means available! I’ll become superior to you in every way, thereby eliminating any thought of contesting Celia’s custody!”
“Is that all you have to say?” Ashton asked contemptuously.
“I despise you, Ashton!” Roxy declared once more, her eyes turning bloodshot in rage.
“I don’t care,” Ashton said indifferently before walking away with Kayla.
Eunice supported the unsteady Roxy once Ashton and Kayla had left. She then asked worriedly, “Are you alright, Roxy?”
“I’m fine,” Roxy replied, shaking her head slightly.
She suddenly came up with an idea and asked, “Do you think I have the aptitude to train in martial arts, Eunice?”
Eunice was stunned. “D–Do you wish to take up martial arts, Roxy? That is an extremely demanding path.”
“It was just a thought,” Roxy replied.
She finally understood the significance of martial prowess after all that had occurred today. She mused that Ashton’s arrogance stemmed solely from his fighting prowess.
Eunice said with a smile, “I happen to possess a few cultivation techniques, and if you are genuinely keen, I will share them with you. It is possible that you were born with an innate talent for martial arts, Roxy!”
Roxy said gratefully, “I’m truly indebted to you for rushing over here, Eunice. I would have been utterly helpless if not for your intervention.”
Renee voiced her displeasure, saying, “Ashton was the one who saved us. You should be thanking him instead…”
Roxy’s expression immediately hardened. “You’re not allowed to mention Ashton’s name in my presence again!”
Renee sighed softly before a shocking thought took hold. She thought that since Ashton and Roxy were irrevocably estranged, maybe she could pursue Ashton instead. She immediately lowered her head at that thought and blushed deeply, her pulse quickening as if her secret desire had been caught.
It was a bewitching night, with the moonlight casting a gentle glow around the surroundings.
Kayla regarded Ashton with renewed curiosity, finding him increasingly enigmatic. “Where did you pick up martial arts and medical knowledge? How come your ex–wife didn’t know about any of this?”
“Roxy chose ignorance. I never deliberately concealed my life from her, but the point is moot now,” Ashton

replied with a smile.
He had moved on entirely from Roxy, for his life was now characterized by boundless opportunity and beauty.
He noticed that when he was with Kayla, his Drakell technique triggered automatically. He had just gone on a killing spree earlier, so his murderous intent and his sexual appetite had risen sharply.
He suddenly came to a halt.
“What’s the matter?” Kayla asked, turning to Ashton.
Ashton suddenly reached out and tilted Kayla’s chin upward, studying her immaculate, finely sculpted features with appreciation.
“What exactly are you doing?” Kayla exclaimed, her face flushing with a mix of shame and rage.
Ashton held her chin fast as she attempted to look away, tilting it up. “You seem to have forgotten our agreement, Ms. Clarkson. You vowed to spend the night with me if I saved your grandfather. You should honor your word tonight!”
