Chapter 278
Natalie shot Ashton a furious, embarrassed glare. Clutching her backside, she snapped, “If you end up dying, don’t say I didn’t warn you. The Sage is a terrifying man!”
“Oh yeah? Well, let me see just how terrifying he is, then! After all, you can’t catch a wolf without entering the forest,” Ashton remarked with a derisive chuckle.
He’d long wanted to meet Flint. Now that he had the chance, there was no way he’d pass it up.
After a brief hesitation, Gene gritted his teeth and said, “I’m coming with you, Mr. Gray! So what if it’s the Sage, the ruler of the criminal underworld? I’d like to see for myself, too!”
Louie wavered, but after remembering Walter’s instructions, he quickly said, “I’m coming too, Mr. Gray! The Sage is willing to show a little courtesy to the Holt Crew, so maybe there’s room for negotiation later.”
Cadence chimed in, “I’ll accompany you as well, Mr. Gray.”
“There’s no need for that,” Ashton declared, interrupting them. “I can go alone.”
“Ashton…” Sylvia clutched him.
He stroked her head and said, “Have a little faith in your man. It’s just the Sage. He can’t do anything to me. You guys just wait outside. If anything does happen, I’ll be in touch, and you guys can come in to save me then.”
Sylvia nodded.
20 minutes later, Ashton arrived at Grandcrest Estate. Sylvia and the others waited outside with their subordinates, paying close attention to everything that happened inside the estate.
“Say the word, Mr. Gray, and we’ll march right in there. We’ll fight with our lives, if we have to!” Gene solemnly declared.
Narrowing his eyes, Ashton took in the imposing Grandcrest Estate. “This is a pretty decent location, though there’s quite a bit of malevolent energy here…”
He entered the estate alone on foot.
Soon, Irina came out to greet him. When she saw he had come by himself, her expression froze in surprise. Scrutinizing him, she remarked, “You certainly are a brave man, Mr. Gray. Aren’t you afraid that once you enter Grandcrest Estate, you won’t live to see the sun rising tomorrow?”
“I trust that the Sage treats his guests well.”
“This way, please, Mr. Gray,” Irina said with an icy chuckle before escorting him into the living room.
Along the way, Ashton clearly felt the murderous hostility in the air. Even he tensed up in this situation.
As the ruler of the criminal underworld, Flint had dominated Javonbury for decades. No one knew the true extent of his power. But one thing was certain–no one in the city dared to go against him.
In the last decade, Ashton was the first.
“Kill him! Kill him now! He’s the one who murdered my son!”
A shrill female voice suddenly rang out.
Amid the crowd in the living room, a beautiful, voluptuous woman pointed at Ashton, her chest heaving. It was

Rhonda Lott, Edmund’s mother and Flint’s current favorite lover.
In an instant, two A–ranked experts flashed forward, their killing intent rolling off in waves as they lunged toward Ashton from different angles. They launched lethal strikes at him, clearly intent on killing him.
Ashton deliberately waited for a moment, only to find that no one in the living room was stopping them.
Flint, who was seated in the middle, remained still, his eyes closed. It was as if he’d fallen asleep.
Snorting, Ashton remarked, “Is this how the Sage treats his guest? Is this supposed to intimidate me?”
His inner energy surged, forming a blade that shot out and swiped at the two A–ranked experts with overwhelming force. The air rippled as the force from the blade slashed right through the men’s chests, instantly drawing blood.
With two loud thuds, the A–ranked experts collapsed onto a pool of their own blood.
All at once, the atmosphere turned heavy as the smell of blood filled the air.
Ashton strode into the center of the living room. His icy gaze flitted across the crowd before landing on Flint, who sat on a raised platform.
“Mr. Vance, kindly hand over the bitch who just tried to attack me, so that I can deal with her,” he said curtly.
