Ashton and Roxy stared each other down, both gazes sharp and hostile. Her chest was heaving, but she didn’t avoid his taunting gaze.
“Are you trying to posture in front of me?” she questioned..
“That’s right,” Ashton retorted in contempt. “You have less than a year left. Make the most of the time you have left with Celia. Soon, I’ll be taking her way. You’re not fit to be her mother.”
“Don’t even think about it!” Roxy declared furiously, her chin lifted. “Don’t think you have what it takes to challenge me for custody of Celia just because you have a little bit of power now. Do you really think you can lord over everyone? I’ll never lose to you!”
“We’ll see about that,” Ashton remarked coldly. “Go ahead and live in anxiety and fear all you want. Here’s a warning for you. I’ll be moving in on Summit Beauty next, and I’m going to dismantle it completely. Are you ready?”
“Hah! The likes of you?”
Roxy didn’t back down at all. She took a step closer to Ashton and declared, “All of Summit Group’s subsidiaries are only going to get stronger from here on out. You won’t be able to stop me!”
“Oh? We’ll see about that. I hope you can still maintain this level of arrogance when Summit Beauty goes bankrupt,” Ashton remarked before leaving with his allies.
Watching Ashton’s group strut away, Tanya exploded. “That little bastard has really climbed his way up! Why won’t he just drop dead!”
To this day, she was still tormented by the pain caused by her stomach condition. The more she suffered, the more she hated Ashton. Even in her sleep, she dreamed of seeing him die a miserable death.
“Don’t keep making the same mistake over and over again, Roxy. Just apologize to Ashton! He isn’t a heartless man,” Renee urged.
But Roxy shook her head. “Can’t you tell, Renee? That man won’t be satisfied until he destroys me. He wants me to kneel at his feet and beg him. He’s out for revenge, but I won’t let him win. I’ll make him understand that he’ll never be good enough for me.”
She turned around and walked off.
Since Ashton wanted to ruin Summit Beauty, she would make it even more of a success than before as a slap to his face.
As Ashton and the others stepped out into the darkness of night, a luxurious car with a custom license plate number came speeding down the road, coming to a stop right in front of Ashton.
“That’s the Sage’s car!” Cadence gasped, his expression turning grim.
That license plate number belonged to Flint Vance, the man who’d ruled the criminal underworld in Javonbury for decades, also known as the Sage.
A stunning woman stepped out of the car. She was dressed in a crisp business suit, and her wavy hair draped over her curvaceous body.
“Good evening, Mr. Gray. My name is Irina Nunley. I’m the Sage’s personal secretary. He’s inviting you over to Grandcrest Estate,” Irina said with a professional smile on her face.

Ashton wasn’t surprised by the invitation. He looked Irina over before chuckling. “And if I refuse the invitation?”
“The Sage has said that if you refuse, it means you show him no respect and will face the consequences of such a choice,” she replied, her voice silky.
The threat behind those words couldn’t be missed.
Natalie and the others stiffened, glancing at Ashton in concern.
But Ashton remained calm. “Go back and tell the Sage I’ll be arriving at Grandcrest Estate in half an hour.”
Irina glanced at him in surprise. He was far more composed than she would’ve expected. “We look forward to your arrival, Mr. Gray.”
She got back into the car and left.
“You’re walking into a trap, Mr. Gray!” Louie warned grimly.
Gene also chimed in, “The Sage is an incredibly powerful man, Mr. Gray, and you killed his son. He won’t let that slide.”
Cadence looked worried as well. “Mr. Gray, as far as I know, Edmund’s mother is Rhonda Lott, the Sage’s favorite lover. She doted on him a lot, so I’m sure she’ll stop at nothing to get revenge now. If you enter Grandcrest Estate, you might not be able to come back out.”
“Maybe you should forget about going over there, Ashton. There’s no reason for you to confront the Sage directly. He wouldn’t dare to hurt you in public either! We can slowly come up with a plan,” Sylvia advised.
As for Natalie, she took one long look at Ashton before scoffing. “You’d better not get yourself killed. Once you walk into Grandcrest Estate, it’s going to be almost impossible to walk back out. Few in Javonbury can go head–to- head against the Sage. I think you should try to flee instead-”
Smacking her on the backside, Ashton remarked, “Do I need to teach you a lesson again?”
