Rhonda began crying even more pitifully, her trembling body looking even more tantalizing

“Dad! Ashton is way too full of himself! You have to cripple him and let me torment him!” Hazel exclaimed in excitement.

The more arrogant Ashton was, the more she wanted to stomp on him. It had been a long time since she felt this interested in a man.

Frowning, Ashton glanced at Hazel. He didn’t recall having any beef with her, so why was she out to get him?

Hazel lifted her chin, eyeing Ashton with an air of superiority as if he were already her plaything.

Meanwhile, Flint was a little stunned. He hadn’t expected Ashton to withstand the imposing pressure that came from someone in his position.

“You are indeed the same Ashton Gray as before, only you’ve become even more arrogant after ten years. Alas, you’ve chosen the wrong place to try to exert your authority. My son died by your hand. No matter what, you need to pay for that.

“I’ll make you an offer. If you break one of your own arms and legs yourself, I’ll spare your life out of appreciation for your talents,” Flint said raspily.’

Instantly, a more terrifying wave of murderous intent filled the air. The experts from all around focused on Ashton, ready to pounce the moment Flint gave the word.

“So this is your way of settling scores, Mr. Vance. If that’s the case, it seems to me that the so–called ruler of the criminal underworld isn’t all that impressive after all,” Ashton declared, showing no sign of fear.

“How dare you!” Flint’s two personal guards barked in unison, glaring at Ashton in fury.

“Come on! Get him! Don’t kill him, but go ahead and break his limbs!” Hazel shouted.

“I’d like to see who dares!” Ashton hollered before slowly walking up to Flint with a domineering expression. ” Are you sure you want to lay your hands on me, Mr. Vance? Are you sure you can handle the consequences?”

Flint’s eyes narrowed into slits. “Go on, then. Tell me what kind of consequences I will have to handle.”

“If I die here in Granderest Estate–your territory, Mr. Vance–the factions under my command will be fighting you till the very end.”

“Do you think I’ll be scared of a bunch of ants?”

“Perhaps you’re not, Mr. Vance, but if things get out of hand, the government organizations will surely get involved. Are you able to hold out against an investigation launched by the Knights, the Dominion Vanguard, and the Empyrean Sentinel? They’d love an excuse to take you down,” Ashton remarked.

Flint straightened up a little, and for the first time, he began eyeing Ashton seriously. “You’re smart, but you overestimate yourself. It might be a little troublesome to kill you, but I don’t need to worry about that.”

“What if I’m part of the Legion?” Ashton asked with a sneer.

Flint’s gaze sharpened, the hostility in them intensifying. Countless thoughts raced through his mind.

“Did Edmund die because the Legion wanted to make a move against me?” he asked quietly, his voice dripping

with murderous intent.

Ashton neither confirmed nor denied it.

“I already told you that Edmund brought this on himself. He ambushed me first. I simply killed him in self- defense. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be standing here talking to you right now, and you wouldn’t have to take matters into your own hands just to punish me, right?”

Flint’s eyelid twitched. That was the crux of the problem. If he could lawfully pin a crime on Ashton, he would’ve already used his connections to arrest him.

Sensing Flint’s hesitation, Rhonda sobbed even more loudly, “Eddie died so miserably, Flint… You must avenge him! Don’t let this filthy little bastard off!”

“So what if he’s with the Legion, Dad?” Hazel chimed in. “The Legion is far from what it used to be. We don’t need to fear them!”
