Chapter 293
Smirking, Ashton asked, “Could it be that you’re worried about me?”
“Why would I be worried about you?” Kayla scoffed. “I just don’t want you to die for no reason.
“Don’t worry. There’s no way this plan will fail. If you don’t believe me, why don’t we bet on it?” he offered mischievously.
Kayla instinctively took a step back and eyed him warily. The last time she fell for this, she ended up owing him a night in bed with him!
“What do you want to bet on?” she asked.
After studying her curvaceous figure, Ashton said with a devilish grin, “If I manage to kill every single assassin the Sage sends after me and deal him a crushing loss, you’ll have to spend ten nights with me. If I fail, you won’t have to spend the night with me anymore. I’ll cancel the previous bet we made.”
Blinking, Kayla checked on the terms again. “You’re saying that you’ll kill every single person the Sage sends, right? Not a single one will survive?”
“That’s right.”
“Do you know how many of them he’ll be sending? He’s the type of person who’d go all out if he decides to do something!”
“No matter how many people he sends my way, not a single one of them will be escaping alive,” Ashton declared.
Kayla bit her lip and stared at Ashton for some time. She was a little tempted. After all, she was still upset about having to spend the night with him.
If he lost tonight, she’d be free of that!
But if he won the bet… well, it would mean she’d have to spend ten nights with him instead of one. What difference did it make, since she’d have to sleep with him either way?
Pursing her lips, she countered, “I’ll only agree to three nights! Tonight, if you not only manage to keep Hazel and Rhonda safe from harm but also kill every single person the Sage sends over, I’ll spend three nights with you. But if you fail, I won’t have to make good on the night I promised you before.”
“It’s a deal!” Ashton replied.
“Good.”
But even before she and Ashton went their separate ways, she was still a little worried. “I’ll keep some people on standby. If you’re in any danger, send the signal for backup at once. We’ll get to you as soon as we can.”
“I won’t be in any danger.”
“You’re the most arrogant man I’ve ever met.”
“That’s because I have every right to be,” Ashton said.
After cultivating the Drakell technique and getting a step closer to fully awakening his Drakeborne lineage, he’d had a hard time keeping the unbridled side of him in check–and he didn’t try to anyway.
He wanted to act freely and brazenly, conquering and subduing all in his path.

Ten minutes later, Ashton arrived at a villa on the outskirts of the city, which was the place he had earlier instructed Louie to prepare.
All was silent, with the surroundings deserted.
“Hazel and Rhonda are inside, Mr. Gray. Everything you requested has been prepared as well,” Louie reported respectfully.
Ashton glanced at the sky. “You know I’ve set up the Culling Formation here, right?”
Louie nodded.
“Once the array is activated, I’ll wait for the Sage’s men to walk right into the trap…” Ashton declared, his eyes gleaming with hostility.
Since he’d decided to go after Flint, it would be all or nothing. He had to eliminate every single being that posed a threat to his goal.
“You can go now,” Ashton said, waving Louie off.
Louie wisely took his leave, feeling even more in awe of Ashton now, along with a greater sense of anticipation.
The clash between Ashton and Flint would be an epic one. It would reshape Javonbury’s criminal underworld and change the trajectories of countless lives, too.”
Ashton stepped into the villa.
As soon as Hazel and Rhonda saw him, they felt even more uneasy. They quickly cowered, but their eyes were filled with a mix of hatred and fear as they looked at him.
“On your knees! Come and serve your master!” Ashton commanded.
