Ashton’s voice was both mocking and contemptuous. Anyone listening could tell that he was humiliating Flint and hitting where it hurt the most.
In an instant, a murderous pressure filled the air, weighing down on Ashton like a boulder on his shoulders and trying to force him to his knees.
His eyes lit up at once. He’d been curious to find out the full extent of Flint’s power.
Blood surged through Ashton’s veins as he stood firm, enduring the oppressive weight. The pressure continued to intensify.
When Ashton felt a stinging pain shoot through his body, he finally felt a sense of danger. A thirst for battle colored his eyes, dark flames flickering deep within them.
“Mr. Vance, are you worried that I won’t take good care of Hazel and Rhonda? Don’t worry. I’ll make sure they’re satisfied in every way. I’ll be sure to let them experience the joys of being a woman,” Ashton arrogantly declared.
He wanted to force Flint to make a move so he could gauge his strength.
But soon, the murderous air dissipated. Shoulders relaxing, Ashton looked at Flint with a hint of mockery in his smile.
“Thank you for giving me Hazel and Rhonda to be my servants. They’re very grateful to you as well. They said it’s because they’re finally free of you and can live happily ever after with me.”
Alas, no matter what Ashton said, he could not provoke Flint any further.
Flint’s expression was frosty as he eyed Ashton. “Are you done? If you’re done, it’s time for you to leave.”
“You sure are a tolerant man, Mr. Vance. Why, you’re basically as gentle as a lamb!” Ashton mocked.
Even Irina stiffened at that. Was Ashton hellbent on duking it out with Flint? Was he that eager to die?
Scoffing, Flint turned to leave.
“Mr. Vance!” Ashton called out. “You should step down from your position as the ruler of Javonbury’s underworld.
“What was that?”
Flint whipped back around and stared right into Ashton’s eyes. At last, he figured out Ashton’s real motive behind everything he’d done so far–Ashton wanted to take his place!
Countless ambitious men had tried to do so over the last few decades, but they all ended up in the ground.
“You’re old now. If you want to live a few more years, you should retire to a quiet place somewhere. But before you go, give a clear account of everything you’ve done and hand over all your wealth and power. That’s the only way for you to walk away with your life,” Ashton said bluntly.
Flint snorted. “Do you really think that just because you have some skill and the Legion backing you up, you can challenge me?”
Ashton replied, “When it’s time for you to step aside, Mr. Vance, nothing you do can change that. Otherwise, I fear things won’t end well for you.”
“What nerve you have!” Flint snarled, his eyes blazing with hostility. “I will not give up my position as the ruler

of Javonbury’s underworld! If you truly have what it takes, come and challenge me for it yourself, but be prepared to die a horrible death!”
Ashton met Flint’s gaze, a confident smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. He looked exper for a fight I’m already here, aren’t I? I suggest you prepare yourself for a horrible death as well, Mr. Vance”
“We’ll see about that!” Flint scoffed before marching off.
By now, the mask of civility had been completely torn off. A genuine battle was about to ensue.
“By the way, Mr. Vance, both your daughter and your lover have such excellent figures,” Ashton called out nonchalantly.
Flint froze mid–step, his expression becoming even fouler than usual. But he only stopped for a moment before heading into the estate without responding.
Irina cast a glance at Ashton and let out a soft chuckle. “You’re a bold man, though I wonder if you truly have the ability to take Flint’s place.”
