Other condemnations rang out all around the room.

Nadine also shot an icy look at Ashton, demanding, “You owe me an explanation!”

“Why would I need to explain anything when you possess such pathetic medical skills?” Ashton said curtly. “All you managed to do is sense that Mr. Beldon is running out of life force. You can’t even locate the true source of malevolent energy in his body.”

Nadine frowned. It was her first time encountering a man who treated her with such scorn and disdain.

“Mr. Beldon, the Energy Condensation Pill is what I believe can save you, I admit there is a small chance it could trigger the malevolent energy in your body, but there’s a far greater chance it will suppress it. Feel free to decide if you wish to consume it,” Nadine said coolly.

“I have complete faith in you, Dr. Fowler!” Kenneth declared.

Naturally, he didn’t believe a single word of Ashton’s warning.

He also believed that if he replenished his life force, he could use it to suppress the malevolent energy within him and slowly heal.

“Dad, maybe you should consider taking Ashton’s advice,” Sheila piped up worriedly.

“Sheila! From now on, you should be more cautious when you choose who you get involved with!” Kenneth shot her a glare before consuming the pill.

Once the pill entered his stomach, a surge of heat swept through his body. Threads of life force rippled outward, fusing into his flesh and blood.

In an instant, he regained color in his cheeks, the earlier sickly pallor completely vanishing.

“The Energy Condensation Pill is truly miraculous!”

“Dr. Fowler is far more skilled than all of us.”

The crowd immediately showered her with flattery once more.

Smiling faintly, Nadine shot Ashton a smug look.

“This is great! You’re finally getting better, Dad!”

“See, honey? Brad is the only one who can be trusted during times like this!”

However, while everyone was busy celebrating, something happened.

Out of nowhere, Kenneth’s eyes widened, and his face twisted in pain. As he coughed up a mouthful of blood, his body fell back against the bed. All the color drained out of his face.

Wisps of malevolent energy leaked out of him, destroying what little life force he had left.

Nadine paled. She scanned Kenneth’s symptoms, mentally running through every bit of medical knowledge she had ever learned, but she couldn’t think of a solution. She could only watch helplessly as the last of Kenneth’s life force faded.

“T–There’s nothing I can do…” she mumbled, her body trembling with a sense of helplessness.

“How could this be happening…”

Kenneth’s life force continued to drain rapidly. His breathing thinned.

While everyone else was at a loss, Sheila grabbed Ashton and cried out anxiously, “Ashton! Quick, save my dad! You must be able to do something, right?”

“I can, but didn’t Mr. Beldon say he didn’t need my help? There’s no reason for me to get involved when I’m not wanted. You guys should start picking out a coffin for him,” Ashton said before putting his arm around Sheila and turning to leave.

“No, wait… Save me, please… Save me!” Kenneth reached out to Ashton and begged.
