“My identity is top secret within the Legion. With your current rank, you’re not qualified to know,” Ashton said coldly.

“Oh…” Eunice’s face fell, but she wasn’t too disappointed. Since he was the Legion’s deputy head, she would learn who he was sooner or later. She’d be able to get closer to him!

Ashton had no idea what she was thinking, nor did he care. He asked, “You said you found the Assassin Guild’s headquarters, right?”

“Yes, my lord.”

“Then take me there. It has its hands soaked in blood, and some of it belongs to our legionnaires. It’s time to wipe them out.”

Excitement flickered in Ashton’s eyes. He’d just been brooding over the lack of worthy opponents for him to slaughter. Now, a grand offering had arrived.

“What did you say, my lord? You’re going to the Assassin’s Guild alone?” Shock and dread flashed across Eunice’s face.

Was that not suicide? She knew the Grim Reaper was mysterious and strong, but he seemed far too arrogant. Had she misjudged him?

“Is there a problem? If we don’t eradicate the Assassin’s Guild now, they’ll relocate their base once they hear you’ve been rescued. Taking them down in one sweep will be much harder then. This is a once–in–a–lifetime opportunity.”

Ashton gazed into the night, a bloodthirsty smile tugging at his lips. Since becoming the Legion’s deputy head, he hadn’t truly made his mark. It was time to announce to the world that the Legion now had a grim reaper among them.

When she felt Ashton’s utter confidence and towering killing intent, Eunice swallowed and stammered, “M–My lord, based on my current intel, the Assassin’s Guild has at least one SSS–ranked expert, two SS–ranked experts, and over a hundred skilled fighters at its base.

‘That’s an extremely formidable force and not something one person can handle.”

She hesitated, then asked, “Why don’t we rally the legionnaires and wait for the Northern Troops to join us before we storm the Assassin’s Guild?”

She knew very well just how strong Ashton was. Otherwise, he couldn’t have annihilated six of the Assassin’s Guild’s elite killers with just a snap of his fingers. But to single–handedly destroy the Assassin’s Guild… that was pure fantasy.

“They’ll be gone by the time you gather the troops.” Ashton’s patience thinned. “You don’t have to come. Just give me the location. I don’t have time to keep arguing with you.”

“That’s an order. Disobey, and you’re permanently expelled from the Legion!” Ashton’s voice turned ice–cold. Eunice shuddered, realizing he had absolute authority and confidence. He was nothing like any legionnaire she had ever met.

“My lord, I’ll take you there!” She ultimately caved and agreed. He’d saved her life. If need be, she would give it back.

“Let’s go,” Ashton said calmly. He inhaled and exhaled, continuously drawing in the world’s spiritual energy, maintaining a state of cultivation throughout.

Eunice walked beside him, but she still couldn’t pierce the energy masking his face. She couldn’t see his actual appearance at all.

“My lord, we’re here.”

A few minutes later, they arrived at a secluded building. Under the night sky, it looked chillingly bleak. Strands of killing intent seeped out, sending shivers down the spine.

“This is the Assassin’s Guild’s headquarters.” Cold sweat slid down Eunice’s cheek. “Maybe you should reconsider, my lord. No one in the Assassin’s Guild is weak. Every one of them has blood on their hands.”
