Martha’s expression instantly fell. She pouted slightly and asked, “How about a week then, Ashton?”
“It’s still a no from me,” Ashton replied firmly, showing no consideration whatsoever for her delicate feelings.
“How about three days?” Martha asked, fixing Ashton with a pathetic, pleading gaze. “I know my schedule is packed with upcoming engagements, meaning I can’t be with you constantly, but I have so much to tell you, Ashton.”
“I’ll stay with you for three days, then,” Ashton replied, reluctantly agreeing to her request couldn’t bring himself to reject the foolish young woman.
“Thank you, Ashton!” Martha exclaimed, her face lighting up with extreme joy and overwhelming happiness. That was a smile that had never before graced Martha’s features. It was entirely genuine and came truly from her heart.
Having received Ashton’s promise, Martha was so elated that she practically skipped over to Sylvia, saying with a smile, “Let’s sign the contract right now, Sylvia!”
Sylvia was at a loss for words.
Having signed the contract, Martha completely abandoned all pretense of discretion. She immediately linked her arm possessively through Ashton’s, fixed her gaze on his eyes with undisguised affection, and asked, “Why don’t we head to my place right now, Ashton? I want to be alone with you.”
A wave of bliss consumed Martha. She paid no mind to anyone else’s judgment. Her feelings for Ashton were passionate and intense, and she desperately wanted to tell the whole world about it.
She had only restrained herself because of the potential disruption it would bring to Ashton’s life; otherwise, she would have instantly gathered the press to proclaim her identity as his lover.
“You should watch how you behave in public, Martha!” Hester exclaimed, her face a mask of frustration as her spirits plummeted. She realized, with dread, that as of this day, Martha was beyond her control. Martha’s eyes were completely fixed on Ashton, as if she had been utterly bewitched.
Martha completely ignored the warning, simply keeping her arm tightly wrapped around Ashton. She had only reluctantly ceased the intimate gesture with a pout when Ashton consciously pulled away, establishing a deliberate distance between them.
“You should go on ahead, Ashton. Hester and I can settle the contract’s specifics here. You should take this
the chance to catch up with Ms. Stone, and, naturally, you can also discuss the endorsemen Complexion Elixir!” Sylvia declared.
She then shot Ashton a meaningful wink, clearly urging him to waste no time in conquering Martha’s heart. Ashton pondered for a moment, then gently shook his head. He then reached out and gently patted Martha’s head, saying, “You can just give me your address. I’ll come over to your place tonight.”
“Alright…” Martha agreed, nodding sensibly. She realized she could use the time to meticulously prepare herself and look her best while anticipating Ashton’s arrival later in the night. She also mused that the dark of night was far more conducive to passion.

Martha’s mind was already racing, plotting countless ways she planned to seduce Ashton. She had been waiting for this precise moment for what felt like an eternity,
Sylvia suddenly moved closer to Martha and whispered, “Ashton has a definite preference for black stockings,
Martha.”
Martha momentarily paused, then nodded while looking back at Sylvia’s amused expression. She knew then that Sylvia was both extending her goodwill and simultaneously reminding her that she was Ashton’s primary partner.
“Let’s go,” Ashton told Sylvia. He still had important tasks to complete with her regarding Elixir’s market launch.
“Alright!” Sylvia responded, deliberately linking her arm through Ashton’s. She paused pointedly as they passed Roxy and declared triumphantly, “Ashton made it clear he intends to ruin Summit Beauty, Roxy! Have you prepared yourself for the inevitable?”
Roxy, with her eyes blazing with fury, retorted through gritted teeth, “You all lack the competence to pull off such a feat!”
Sylvia asked softly, yet deliberately, “Is that so? You and I shall see about that, Roxy! You should take your time to truly learn about Ashton. You’ll eventually discover, in agonizing detail, the loss of your life’s greatest treasure, Roxy!
“You will break down when the truth hits you, just as I did when I found out Ashton had chosen to marry you back then!”
