Chapter 366
Martha, the lofty superstar, was now speaking with a noticeable hint of entreaty. That sight alone filled both Roxy and Hester with bitter distaste.
They knew Martha’s true nature–she possessed an inherent, deep–seated arrogance. Yet now, facing Ashton, she was utterly transformed, reduced to the stereotype of a woman completely blinded by love.
“Go ahead and tell me, then,” Ashton said, his voice laced with a newfound gentleness.
He thought that Martha was undeniably a stunning beauty, no less captivating than Roxy or Sylvia. She naturally possessed an irresistible allure, which explained how she had enchanted countless admirers and carved out her own path through the cutthroat entertainment industry.
“Is it possible for you to come stay at my place for a month, Ashton?” Martha murmured.
Martha had lowered her voice, but everyone in the conference room still heard her. They stared in disbelief, their shock reaching its limit. They couldn’t help but wonder if they had misheard her. How could Martha be pleading with Ashton to stay at her home for a month?
That request alone defied all rational explanation.
Sylvia was also rocked by the request. She suddenly realized with a jolt that she had grievously misjudged Ashton’s potent allure and felt a powerful, immediate sense of crisis flaring up within her.
“It seems I need to convince Melody to join forces quickly; otherwise, I won’t stand a chance against all these rivals alone…” Sylvia muttered to herself, finally understanding the true stress of vying for a position of favor.
She, however, couldn’t deny that she found the whole thing exhilarating. That sheer number of rivals coveting her man was a clear validation that her discernment was truly superior.
She suddenly thought of something and turned to the visibly pale Roxy, a taunting smile playing on her lips.
She then asked softly, “Do you still remember what I told you earlier, Roxy? You shouldn’t let regret consume you now! You see, the man you’ve carelessly discarded is now the very desire of countless women! Did you ever truly grasp the appeal of the man you possessed, Roxy?”
That statement landed, striking Roxy’s core like a devastating blow. She felt a wave of genuine pain, coupled with burning humiliation, wash over her for the very first time. She was still utterly baffled by the whole situation, though.
Why were women like Sylvia and Martha so utterly smitten with Ashton? She believed that whatever competence and skill Ashton possessed simply didn’t warrant such adoration from them.
“You never truly appreciate what you possess,” Sylvia stated, her voice soft but piercing. “It is only in their absence that the true, consuming pangs of loss and remorse set in…”
“I have no regrets, and I will never regret it! I couldn’t care less if every woman in the world likes Ashton! I don’t like him, and that’s final! I’ll make myself perfectly clear again–divorcing Ashton was the single best decision I have ever made!” Roxy insisted, biting her lips with stubborn resolve.
Sylvia smiled faintly. “You’re truly stubborn, Roxy!”

“You can’t do that, Martha!” Hester, having reached her breaking point, rushed over to Martha and whispered urgently, “Have you lost your mind? If you let Ashton move into your place, the paparazzi would have a field day with you!
“Your career is still on an upward trajectory, and you cannot afford one single misstep, Martha! Have you also forgotten Mr. Jensen’s persistent interest in you? You ought to know that antagonizing him is disastrous; the wealth and influence of the Jensen family are absolutely critical to our current strategic goals—”
Martha cut Hester off abruptly, a clear sign of impatience on her face. “I’m the one making this decision for myself, Hester! I’d hate to have to replace my manager over this!”
Hester was startled, realizing instantly that Martha was genuinely angry. She had no choice but to back away, sending a furious glare directly at Ashton. She couldn’t fathom what Ashton possessed that drove Martha to such reckless abandon, causing her to throw caution to the wind.
“That won’t do,” Ashton said, shaking his head. He was far too preoccupied to spend an entire month at Martha’s residence,
He was currently standing at the critical precipice of achieving a breakthrough into the divine realm, meaning that every single moment held immense value and couldn’t be wasted.
In addition, the vicious struggle between himself and the Sage–vying for the position of the ruler of the criminal underworld in Javonbury–was currently at a breaking point. He had no intention of dragging Martha into it.
