“Tell me more about the factions under the Sage’s command,” Ashton said.
Elise nodded and was just about to speak when she realized that he had one arm around her and his other around Whitney. He was guiding them toward a room upstairs.
“I just used up a ton of energy earlier, so I need to lie down and get some rest. You two can give me a massage while telling me more about the Sage. That’s fine with you, right?”
Both Elise and Whitney flushed from the heat of his hands pressed against them. Their instinctive reaction was to refuse him. But after seeing his pale face, they recalled how he’d gone through all that effort to remove the Heart–Devouring Parasites from all of the women.
Unable to refuse his request, they let him lead them upstairs.
Once the three of them had disappeared into a room, some of the other women started whispering among themselves, giggling from time to time. There was no telling what they were discussing.
Inside the room, a soothing fragrance wafted through the air.
Ashton was half–reclined on the bed while Elise and Whitney, the two gorgeous women, massaged his shoulders.
At the same time, Elise filled him in on some of the legends surrounding Flint, along with the factions connected to him.
“The Sage has a close friendship with Cornelius Slater, the head of the Jalunese Martial Academy. Cornelius is the one who created the Heart–Devouring Parasite…”
Elise’s and Whitney’s eyes flashed with deep resentment–and a flicker of fear–at the mention of Flint and Comelius. Their nightmare wasn’t going to end until both men were dead.
“Don’t worry. You have me now,” Ashton said, his voice filled with a kind of strength that drove away all their fear.
Elise and Whitney nodded, both feeling an inexplicable sense of trust in Ashton. They even started to look forward to that night ten days from now…
About half an hour later, the sound of hurried footsteps rang out. A woman called out frantically, “Bad news, Elise! Rudy Winslow, one of the Sage’s trusted subordinates, has shown up with a man named Emmett Slater. He wants Whitney to serve the man!”
“Emmett Slater? Cornelius Slater’s son?”
Elise and Whitney both panicked.
“It’s him, and he’s already here! What should we do?” the woman asked anxiously.
“I’ll head down and talk to them myself.”
Elise stood up and looked at Ashton with a grim expression. “Whatever you do, don’t come out.
“You sure you can handle this yourself?” he asked.

Having used the Cosmic Breathing Technique, he’d recovered most of his inner energy, and the power of t Drakebome lineage was singing within him again.
“It should be fine. The Sage and 1 have an agreement. They won’t dare to cause too much trouble. It’s best if we don’t stir things up before his birthday,” Elise said.
Ashton pondered in silence for a moment before saying, “Alright, but don’t feel like you have to put up anything. We don’t have to wait for another ten days anyway. It wouldn’t be a problem if we let the Sage find out today itself that Blossom Hall is now under my command.
“I have the power to keep all of you safe.”
He still had plenty of trump cards up his sleeve. Even if he had to duke it out with Flint right away, he had nothing to fear.
Feeling a lot more confident now, Elise said to Whitney, “Stay here with Mr. Gray
Whitney nodded.
Elise swiftly tidied herself up. The smile she’d shown Ashton had vanished, replaced by a frosty expression as she walked out of the room and came down to Blossom Hall’s reception area.
She walked steadily, no longer feeling the unease she once felt whenever she had to deal with Flint or the Jalunese people.
From now on, she was no longer alone. She didn’t have to face the storm that these people threw at her by herself. She had a man named Ashton Gray to fall back on, and she had his support to rely on!
