Rudy looked at Elise in confusion. He and Flint had deduced what would happen–although Elise would surely be infuriated, in the end, she would have no choice but to compromise.

How could she be so adamant in her refusal? She didn’t even leave any room for negotiation.

“I said I am never going to hand Whitney over to that Jalunese man, Emmett Slater! He isn’t even worthy of touching her hand!” Elise curtly declared.

“How dare you!” Rudy roared. “You seem to have forgotten your place, Ms. Haywood! This is a command from the Sage. Are you sure you want to defy him?

“I’ll have v you know that I brought the Sage’s whistle with me. The moment I blow on it, the Heart–Devouring Parasite in your body will go berserk. I don’t need to remind you what happens next, right?”

Elise paled at the sight of that whistle. The fear she had toward it was so deeply etched into her bones that it couldn’t be forgotten. Despite knowing that the parasite was no longer in her, she was still plagued by that nightmarish feeling.

Just moments ago, she received a message from Ashton, telling her to refuse their demand without a second thought. He would take care of the rest.

Feeling reassured, she held her head up high for the first time and boldly declared her refusal to abide by Flint’s

order.

Her heart was pounding like crazy. She knew that tonight marked the change in not just her fate but the fate of every woman here at Blossom Hall.

“You’re asking for it! The Sage has been too nice to you, Ms. Haywood. Allow me to teach you a lesson on his behalf today, so that you fully understand what it means to obey him!” Rudy snarled before blowing on the

whistle.

Emmett cackled with glee. He was eager to see Elise all curled up and trembling violently from the excruciating pain! He wanted to put her in her place.
