Alas, both Emmett and Rudy were stupefied by what ended up happening.

All of the women in Blossom Hall seemed perfectly fine. Not a single one of them fell victim to the effects of the Heart–Devouring Parasite activating inside of them. Instead, the women continued to eye them coldly, their gazes flashing with murderous intent.

It was clear the women wanted nothing more than to tear them apart.

“Just what the hell is going on?” Emmett roared, his fists balled.

As he wiped the sweat off his forehead, Rudy asked grimly, “Could it be that the Heart–Devouring Parasite has been removed from their bodies?”

“That’s impossible! My father created those parasites himself, and the ones planted in Elise and Whitney are even more potent than the others! No one in Javonbury can possibly figure out how to remove it from them. Something else must be going on!” Emmett growled, his jaw clenched.

“I’m going to see my father. You should talk to the Sage about this!”

Emmett and Rudy both turned to leave Blossom Hall, but their expressions soon tensed up. The entrance had been blocked off, and a man with an icy expression was walking toward them. He had one arm around Whitney.

His gaze blazed with murderous ferocity, as if he were eyeing two dead men.

“Whitney!” Emmett was infuriated to see the woman of his dreams in the arms of another man.

The veins along his forehead popped as he snarled, “You bitch! How dare you-”

He didn’t even get to finish his sentence before Ashton shot forward and threw a punch right at his chest.

Emmett’s eyes

widened in shock. He made a desperate scramble to gather his strength and form a protective barrier around him. But when confronted with the might of Ashton’s punch, it was about as effective as a bubble, bursting the moment the punch landed.

Following the crisp sound of cracking bones, Emmett spat out a mouthful of blood. His chest was caved in, and his body was flung backward. Crashing heavily against the floor, he let out a feral howl.

“Who the hell are you?” Rudy questioned, his expression horrified as he backed away and shielded Emmett behind him.

Although Emmett was a useless buffoon, his father, Cornelius, was the head of the Jalunese Martial Academy. Should anything happen to Emmett, Rudy wouldn’t be able to answer to Cornelius. It might even affect the alliance between Flint and Cornelius!

“I’m the master of Blossom Hall. Elise and Whitney are also my women. My name is Ashton Gray.”

Smirking, Ashton waved at Elise, who smiled and walked up to him. She pressed herself against him, as if meekly awaiting his orders.
