A murderous tension filled the air.
Emmett collapsed onto the floor, though his legs continued to flail around. His eyes were filled with terror, and
pants grew wetter by the second as all the color drained from his face.

Just moments ago, Rudy’s skull had been split open right in front of him. The blood had gotten onto him as well. As he inhaled the stench of blood, he felt as though he’d never been as close to death as he was now.
The man before him was the devil himself.
“D–Don’t kill me! I’ll do whatever you want! My father is the head of the Jalunese Martial Academy. He’s a peak transcendent realm expert! If I die, he’ll bring his men over to kill every single person in Blossom Hall!”
At the mention of Cornelius, Emmett seemed to gain some confidence. He gulped and continued, “You’re Ashton Gray, right? If you let me go today, I can pretend like none of this ever happened. We, the Jalunese, love befriending people like you!”
Ashton’s gaze turned icy. He lifted his leg and kicked Emmett, sending him flying more than 30 feet into the air. His body smashed heavily onto the floor, creating a human–shaped crater.
“You think you’re worthy of being my friend?”
“Don’t be a fool!” Emmett roared in terror, feeling as though every bone in his body had cracked. “The Jalunese Martial Academy is partnered with the Dominion Vanguard! If I die, you’ll be given a death sentence! No one can save you then!”
“The Dominion Vanguard again?” Ashton’s eyes flashed with even more hostility.
“Ashton, why don’t we… just forget about it?” Whitney suggested.
She grabbed his hand and shook her head lightly, knowing that he was sticking up for her. Nevertheless, she didn’t want him to offend three powerful factions just for her sake. It would spell peril for him.
“How can I just forget about this? He deserves to die!” Ashton fumed, his bloodlust intensifying.
Whitney quickly said, “Rudy is already dead. Right now, you’ve only offended the Sage. The Jalunese Martial Academy and the Dominion Vanguard won’t be coming after you for Rudy’s death.
“But if
if you kill Emmett, they will definitely demand an explanation! When that happens, the Dominion Vanguard may very well have you convicted of murder, and you won’t be able to defend yourself!”
Smiling, Ashton stroked her face and said, “It’s fine. Trust me, your man. Since that Jalunese bastard tried to violate you, as your man, how can I just let it slide? It would mean that I was only making an empty promise when I said I’d protect all of you.”

Whitney trembled. Those words of his were even more moving than any other romantic declarations she’d heard before.
“I’m a strong man, you know. I’m the only man who can have his way with you!” Ashton said.
After tapping Whitney on the nose, he turned around and passed a phone to Emmett. “Call your father and tell

him you’re about to die.”
“Huh?”
Emmett was gasping for air, struggling to breathe under the suffocating pressure emanating from Ashton.
“I’m going to count to three. If you don’t call your father, I’ll reduce you to ashes on the spot!” Ashton threatened coldly.
“I’ll do it! I’ll call him right away!”
Shuddering in fear, Emmett grabbed the phone and tapped on Cornelius‘ contact. Soon, the call connected.
A hoarse and sinister voice rang out. “Who is it?”
As if finally securing a chance for salvation, Emmett cried out urgently, “Dad! It’s me! Come to Blossom Hall and save me! Someone wants to kill me-”
Alas, Emmett was in the middle of his cry for help when Ashton stepped forward and pressed his finger right into the center of Emmett’s forehead.
Instantly, a dark light bloomed at his fingertip. A wisp of terrifyingly potent inner energy condensed into a black beam of light and blasted right through Emmett’s forehead, creating a finger–sized hole.
As blood poured out of the hole, Emmett only managed to let out one last strangled howl before dropping dead in a pool of his blood.
Picking up the phone, Ashton said coldly, “I just killed your son.”
