Still sound asleep, Celia mumbled, “Daddy… I miss you…!

“You silly girl,” Ashton said softly.

Holding Celia in his arms, he went back inside the cabin and picked up a random cell phone to make a police report. “A gunfight broke out at the East Port…”

He glanced at Roxy, Hector, and the others, who were still tied up. Without waiting for them to regain consciousness, he took Celia away.

He’d just killed every member of the Wraiths, as well as a high master from the Obsidian Council. Naturally, trouble was bound to follow after that. Therefore, he preferred to keep his identity hidden if possible.

Crouching behind a boat docked at the East Port, Calvin was shaking in fear. He kept his head covered, too scared to move. He’d just heard the most terrifying screams, which made him believe that Hector and the others had been killed.

He prayed he could get away alive. He should never have come to this rotten place! It was all Roxy’s fault.

He never would have risked his life like this if not for his intention to sleep with her and seize her family’s fortune.

“Huh? Is that… Ashton?”

When the chaos had died down, Calvin stuck half his head out to see whether The Horizon had sailed off. To his shock, he saw Ashton stepping off The Horizon with Celia in his arms. The Horizon had stopped and was docked at the pier again.

“What happened?” Calvin’s head was filled with question marks.

After Ashton left, Calvin exhaled in relief. He could sense a murderous air emanating from Ashton even from a great distance away.

Soon after that, sirens wailed.

Calvin finally felt at ease when he saw a squad of uniformed officers rushing down the pier. After smoothing his clothes, he stepped out and waved them over, saying, “I’m the one who made the police report…”

“Captain Gibson!”

“Captain Morrison! Captain Clark!”

A group of police officers stormed onto The Horizon. Shocked by the discovery of Hector and the others all bound up, the officers quickly loosened their restraints and woke them up.

Calvin hung back for a while. Once he was certain there wasn’t any danger, he staged an agitated entrance and immediately spotted Roxy collapsed on the floor. He rushed over, his face full of concern and remorse.

“Roxy! I’m so sorry I’m late. You’ve been through so much!

“Calvin?”

When Roxy woke up, she immediately looked around and was puzzled to see no one but Calvin around. Her last memory before falling unconscious had been that of Ashton’s arrival!

“Are you alright, Roxy? Those damned criminals have all been dealt with. I brought the squad over to save you!”

Calvin said, his eyes wet. “I should’ve come sooner. My heart aches at the very thought of you getting hurt!”

Roxy struggled to her feet, her body still in a great deal of pain. She hastily asked, “Where’s Celia? Have they rescued her? I want to see her!”

“Celia?”

Calvin froze. After hesitating for a moment, he still chose not to tell Roxy that Ashton had taken Celia away. What if Roxy assumed Ashton had saved Celia and chose to get back together with him? What would happen to him then? He’d be reduced to a clown!

“Ms. Sloan! Are you okay?” Eunice asked in concern after rushing over to Roxy.

“I’m fine. Where’s my daughter Celia, Captain Clark?” Roxy asked.

She panicked when she scanned the rescued children and saw no sign of Celia.

“Calm down, Ms. Sloan. Let us gather all of the missing children, and then you can check to see if she’s among them,” Eunice assured her.
