Chapter 509
Roxy wasn’t going to let Ashton get the better of her.
It was then that the two A–listers stated, “You’ve made a very compelling offer, Ms. Sloan, so we’re certain that as long as nothing unexpected crops up, we’d be happy to move forward and sign our contracts with Summit Media.”
“I’m glad to hear that! I can assure you that Summit Media will certainly not disappoint you, as we’ll put our full weight behind you–every resource we have is at your disposal!” Roxy explained, finally feeling at ease as she breathed a sigh of relief.
She was going to make sure Ashton stayed beneath her, forever looking up at her success.
It was then that the sharp, rapid staccato of high heels echoed outside, and Anna burst through the conference room doors and hurried to Roxy’s side, her voice trembling with fear as she said, “Something terrible has happened, Ms. Sloan.”
“What happened?” Roxy asked with a furrowed brow. She couldn’t help but feel her heart skip a beat, and a sudden, overwhelming sense of dread began to wash over her.
In the meantime, the managers of the two A–listers hurried in, looking panicked and pale. They leaned toward their celebrities‘ sides, murmuring something in their ears that immediately changed the room’s atmosphere.
Anna’s delicate frame trembled slightly, her lips turning pale while replying, “There’s a series of exposés that just broke online. They’re all about Jay and the others, with solid evidence backing every claim, Ms. Sloan.”
She then opened the article containing the scandals and handed the phone to Roxy.
Roxy bit her lip, her hands trembling and clammy as she read the article one word at a time. “I–It’s over for us.”
She felt completely hollowed out after reading the whole article. She collapsed into her seat, her gaze vacant and her mind a chaotic mess, unable to think of a single response.
“What are we going to do about this, Ms. Sloan? You see, the authorities have already stepped in, and Summit Media is being formally investigated!” Anna exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear.
Roxy took a deep breath, struggling to maintain her composure and stop herself from breaking. That exposé was a direct hit to Summit Media–capable of ending everything. She knew that under the weight of such scandals, Summit Media was utterly doomed.
She knew that every single celebrity caught in the crosshairs was done for, and that Summit Media would be held vicariously liable, facing a tidal wave of terminated brand deals and endless lawsuits for damages.
It was the beginning of the end; the sky was turning black over the empire Roxy had built.
“I’m afraid a partnership with Summit Media is out of the question now. If you’ll excuse me, something urgent has come up, so I’ll be leaving now, Ms. Sloan.”
“It’s a good thing I hadn’t signed the contract yet. You were clearly trying to screw me over, weren’t you, Ms. Sloan? I’m certain no one in their right mind would sign with Summit Media now! I’m out of here!”
Having learned of the scandals rocking Summit Media, the two A–listers were seized by a lingering sense of dread. Their faces grew dark with contempt, and without showing Roxy any consideration, they turned on their heels and left the conference room.
Roxy closed her eyes in agony after watching the two A–listers walk out, her heart throbbing with sharp, piercing pain.

“It has to be Ashton’s doing!” Roxy clenched her fists tightly as Ashton’s threat to destroy Summit Media flashed through her mind. She felt as if she had been slapped hard across the face, as Ashton had truly carried out his threat.
“It’s all because of Jay and the others, Ms. Sloan! I had no idea they were such lowlifes in private–they’re no better than beasts! I think we should terminate all contracts with them immediately, Ms. Sloan!” Anna declared, her voice trembling with urgency.
“It’s already too late!” Roxy exclaimed, pressing her fingers to her brow while steadying her breath and
composure.
She then stated gravely, “You should announce to the public that Summit Media is ceasing operations this instant, Anna.”
Anna’s expression shifted instantly. “W–What do you mean, Ms. Sloan? Summit Media is the backbone of the entire Summit Group. It’ll trigger a massive chain reaction throughout the entire company if you shut Summit Media down.”
Roxy’s expression hardened with determination. “I’m aware of that, but there’s no other way, as dragging this out will only affect Summit Group’s main operations. It’s better to cut our losses now than let the chaos consume everything. I’ve lost this battle, and I have to own that!”
