Chapter 556
“You think I can’t kill Niall and those degenerate scions?” A cruel smile tugged at Ashton’s lips as he remembered the black
marks he’d left on them.
“Ronan is a semi–divine realm expert,” Neil said gravely. “Even I’m no match for him.”
The meaning was clear enough.
After a brief hesitation, Neil tried to persuade him. “Mr. Gray, we’ve already made our statement by killing Kendrick and Willa. If we stop now, that might be the wisest choice.”
“Both sides step back, compromise, and everyone’s happy?” Ashton gave a derisive scoff. “That’s how power struggles always work, isn’t it?”
Neil fell silent.
Ashton continued, “But I promised Leon that I’d avenge his entire family and let him kill Niall himself. More importantly, I’ve already issued a death threat. I said I’d take those degenerates‘ heads, and I keep my word.”
“So, let’s go. Let’s pay the Wagners a visit. I want to see who’s brave enough to stop me from killing people who deserve it.”
His words rang with finality.
Leon shuddered beside him. He stared at Ashton with pure admiration and silently vowed to follow him for the rest of his life.
Sally stared at Ashton’s murderous expression and felt his charisma reach its zenith. She had never met a man who commanded her admiration, made her heart race, and drove her to the brink of madness.
Neil wanted to say more, but he swallowed his words. He could only follow Ashton. Still, apprehension weighed on him. He had no idea what Ashton’s trump card was or if he was even afraid of returning empty–handed.
“Breaking news! All the degenerate scions the Legion intends to put on trial have fled to the Wagner residence for refuge. Ronan, the deputy head of the Dominion Vanguard, is there as well. Word is, he’s a semi–divine realm expert.
“With him in charge, Ashton’s Northern Troops will likely return empty–handed.”
“For all his big talk, I bet Ashton doesn’t even have the guts to show up at the Wagners. Killing Kendrick and Willa was probably his limit.”
“True. The Legion is already a shadow of the Dominion Vanguard, and the Wagners are one of the Four Powerhouses of Javonbury. Even if Ashton takes his men there, there’s no way he can carry out any death judgment on Niall and the others. Stopping here is probably an outcome both sides can accept. This whole thing feels staged to me.”
“If that’s the case, the Legion is nothing special after all.”
“Justice? It’s all about interests. With this move, the Legion regains its fearsome reputation, and the Dominion Vanguard consolidates the elite families of Javonbury. Everyone wins. We’re just watching a scripted show.”
“I actually thought someone was going to avenge all those who died unjustly.”
“How could that ever happen…”
The crowd’s expressions darkened. They clenched their fists, only to release them helplessly. Reality never conformed to ideals
“Hold on! Something isn’t right. Under orders from the Legion’s deputy leader, Grim Reaper, Ashton is heading straight for the Wagner residence. He vowed to hang 12 heads on the flag of the Northern Troops and won’t stop until they are dead.”
“What! Seriously? Is the Legion really that bold? Are they actually going head–to–head with the Dominion Vanguard? They’re playing for keeps?”
