Chapter 59

The water splashed all over Trent’s face. For a moment, everyone froze in shock. What was going on? “Ashton! What the hell are you doing? Have you lost your mind?” Melody shrieked in fury.

Although she didn’t have any feelings for Trent, he was still a friend to her. How could Ashton do this to him? “The water was spiked. It’s time for us to go!” Ashton said. He’d immediately noticed that something was off about the water.

As soon as he said that, everyone was startled and looked toward Trent.

Outraged, he slammed his hand against the table and shouted, “What kind of nonsense are you talking about? Why would I spike Melody’s drink? She’s my best friend! Would I hurt my own friend?”

“I trust Trent. We all know what kind of guy he is. Who did you bring over anyway, Melody? He’s utterly ridiculous. T

“The bunch of us have been hanging out together for ages now, and it’s Trent’s birthday today! Why would he drug someone? What a load of trash. It’s such a devious attempt to slander him!” a woman named Connie Nash snapped in displeasure.

Shaking her head, Sally scoffed at Ashton. “Hey, you. Are you sure you didn’t come here to make a laughingstock out of yourself? Who would use such a lowly trick to try to gain attention? It’s so lame!”

“This guy clearly has ill intentions, Melody. He’s trying to drive a wedge between you and Trent. I bet he’s got some other devious scheme in mind. You’d better keep your distance from him!” a man named Jett White warned coldly.

“What the hell are you trying to do, Ashton? Trent’s my friend! If I’d known this would happen, I should never have brought you along. You’re such an embarrassment!” Melody shrieked.

Her face was completely red as she quickly apologized to Trent, “I’m so sorry, Trent. I didn’t know that bastard would do something like this.”

“It’s fine…”

Trent suppressed his rage and forced out a smile. “He’s just worried about you, though he went a bit overboard with his reaction. I’m guessing there must’ve been some kind of misunderstanding. I’ll just get you a new glass of water, and we can put all of this behind us.”

“You’re so gracious, Trent!”

“What a rude bastard he is. He disgusts me!”

“Forget it. Just ignore him. He’s not on our level anyway. We’d only be sullying ourselves if we even looked at him.

“Melody, you’d better find a way to get this guy kicked out of your house at once! Who knows what else he might do?”

All of the people in the room made their comments withou any regard for Ashton. Ignoring them, he looked at Melody with a frown and questioned, “You don’t believe me?”

He would’ve walked out immediately if he hadn’t promised Sylvia he’d keep an eye on Melody for her.

“Certainly not! I really don’t know what Sylvia sees in you.m going to tell her everything that happened today, so just you wait and see. She’s going to kick you out of the house for sure!” Melody snapped, already regretting that she’d brought him along with her.

Shaking his head, Ashton closed his eyes, too lazy to say another word. Tonight, he was going to make it clear to Sylvia that he wasn’t going to protect Melody any longer.

Melody scoffed at the sight of Ashton sitting there like a mute. She took the new glass of water Trent handed to her and drank every last drop.

“We’ll just have fun among ourselves,” she said.

“That’s right. Let’s not let some jerk ruin the fun!”

“Cheers, everyone!”

An hour later, the atmosphere had gotten quite lively as Melody and the others had a blast.

Meanwhile, Trent kept an eye on the time. Based on the dosage of the aphrodisiac he’d given Melody, it would start taking effect in about ten minutes.
