Wanda hesitated for a moment before deciding to bet all of her own assets on Ashton. She had complete faith in him.
Over on the other side, Flint had arrived with Irina and his other subordinates. His dark, icy eyes seemed impossible to read.
At the same time, Damian came jogging up to Eunice with an obsequious smile on his face. “Take my advice, Eunice. You should hurry up and bet on Clay winning. Do it now, while the odds are still 1.5–to–1.
“Ashton is going to die today. I want to watch him take his last breath right before my eyes. I’ve been waiting for this day to come for ages now!”
Eunice frowned, her fists clenching as she shot Damian a displeased glare. She was going to use this fight to determine whether Ashton was the Grim Reaper. She had to get to the bottom of this today.
In the distance, Seth and Cesar had also arrived, both men sporting solemn expressions. The outcome of today’s match would help them decide whether they continued to follow Ashton or switched their allegiance to the Dominion Vanguard!
Even Louie and the others from the Holt Crew showed up.
As time passed, the Apex Arena was soon filled to maximum capacity. Most of the people present were the factions and individuals connected to either the Dominion Vanguard or the Legion.
Everyone sat on the edge of their seats, eager to see if they’d be making a fortune today.
“How much did you all bet? I sold everything I own! I went all–in on Clay winning. Considering the odds when I placed my bet, I’d be able to buy myself a villa tomorrow!”
“You’re that confident Clay is going to win?”
“Need you even ask? According to insider sources, Clay has already awakened and further activated his bloodline. He’s invincible among the transcendent realm experts.
“You know about Maxwell Lademan, the head of the Dominion Vanguard, right? Well, he’s even provided Clay with special training. There won’t be any suspense in this match. It’s just free money for us. I even used my car and house as collateral! You’d have to be a fool to miss out on a sure thing like this.”
“I heard that the Dominion Vanguard deliberately lured the Legion into betting heavily, just to let us win big! Don’t hesitate, guys. Just do it!”
“Yeah, just go for it! The Legion is in shambles anyway. Ashton is doomed to lose!”
As the crowd rapidly swelled, the Apex Arena grew extremely lively. The air became even more charged with excitement.
Time continued to pass. Soon, it was only half an hour before the fight.
Clay was already eager to fight. The intense killing intent radiating from his body was terrifying, shocking everyone present and giving them an even clearer idea of his strength. It further reinforced their belief that Clay would win this battle!
“How strange. Where’s Ashton? Why isn’t he anywhere in sight? If he’s late, it’ll be treated as cowardice and considered a forfeit. That’d be so humiliating!”
“The Legion is about to lose its commission anyway. It’s not all that strange if they have a deserter among their ranks.”
“Hahaha. Forget about him. It’s even better if he doesn’t show up. We’d be making a huge protit!”
“Bad news, guys. Look! The odds for Clay winning have dropped. Looks like everyone’s starting to sense something’s oft. Hurry up and keep betting! If you’re too slow, the odds will get even lower for your payout!”
Everyone started discussing among themselves.

The pitter–patter of rain continued to ring as Ashton started making his way to the Apex Arena on his own. He deduced that something must have happened to Neil.
Certain people were a lot more devious than he’d ever imagined. This was a blatant attempt to ensure nothing unexpected would ruin the outcome they wanted.
Ashton’s eyes flickered as an even better idea came to mind. He didn’t mind toying with these people a little more.
He continued toward the Apex Arena. Soon, he was only about two–thirds of a mile away from the arena, entering the road that was the only way to get there. The night sky seemed particularly haunting, as if some menacing beast lurked in the darkness.
Eyes narrowing, he was just about to continue making his way forward when he heard hoarse cackles ringing out around him.
