After a brief moment of silence, an even more terrifying explosion rang out. It was as if stars were shattering in the sky, sending shockwaves through the air. The force was so immense that it felt as though the earth itself could not withstand it.

Yet, just a few moments later, an abrupt change occurred.

The green light that had been descending from above swiftly dimmed as the dark flames devoured it. The space, which had been split evenly between green and black, began to darken. Soon, the entire Apex Arena was plunged into total darkness.

The dark flames ignited, rapidly swallowing up the last vestiges of Clay’s power before taking the form of a dragon that flew straight toward him.

Illuminated by the dark flames, his complexion turned ghostly pale. The gashes all over his body were horrifying to behold.

His face twitched uncontrollably. His body stiffened as he tried to gather the strength to defend himself, only to realize he didn’t have the power to do that.

“How is this possible…”

The ashen–faced Clay couldn’t believe the harsh reality unfolding before his eyes.

He had already used his maximum strength, pushing himself to the limits of his power as a peak transcendent realm expert, even at the cost of suffering repercussions from doing so. Yet, he still wasn’t Ashton’s match!

Once again, his cultivation resolve crumbled. Amid the dark flames, he felt as though he saw Ashton’s ferocious grin.

“I don’t believe it!”

Clay took a deep breath and forcibly activated a secret technique, summoning the power of his bloodline despite the repercussions. A barrier of green light formed in front of him.

He still had other tricks up his sleeve. There was no way he’d concede defeat so easily.

A booming crash rang out as the massive black dragon slammed into the barrier of green light before Clay. The oppressive power made Clay’s expression contort as he did everything he could to keep the barrier of light up. Blood exploded out of his

veins.

He was certain that Ashton must have similarly pushed himself to the limit to perform an attack such as this. So long as he could hold on now, there was no telling who’d win this match.

Alas, to Clay’s despair, the barrier he’d staked his life to form started to crack, and the cracks kept spreading more and more quickly. It was as if the dragon had bared its fangs and was about to swallow him whole.

But the moment he felt that all hope was lost, Maxwell’s voice abruptly rang out. “You haven’t lost yet!”

Clay’s heart trembled.

Just as the barrier was about to completely shatter into pieces, wisps of white light flowed from his body and forcibly merged with the green barrier, pushing back against the black dragon.

Deafening explosions kept echoing all around, and the ground beneath Clay continued to crack. He was forced to take a step backward, panting as the relief of barely escaping a deadly situation flooded him.

Without the support of Maxwell’s power earlier, he would’ve been dead by now.
