Chapter 608
Joy surged in Clay’s heart, and his eyes gleamed with exhilaration once more.
He no longer cared whether he truly defeated Ashton with his own strength. He only wanted Ashton dead and to win this fight. It didn’t matter how he won. The result was the only thing that mattered.
So what if he’d borrowed Maxwell’s power to do it? That was also proof of his abilities.
But just as Clay was secretly rejoicing, an icy killing intent suddenly descended upon him. The terrifying pressure crashed down like a mountain falling on top of him, making him shudder uncontrollably as fear flashed across his face.
In the blink of an eye, Ashton had appeared right in front of him.
Clay’s eyes widened as he stared at the fearsome figure of Ashton standing before him. The fear that had been branded deep into his soul washed over him once more.
Did Ashton not even need to catch his breath?
He’d just unleashed such a terrifying attack, yet he was already making another charge.
Ashton’s fist came flying at Clay, brimming with murderous power.
Clay hurriedly raised both arms to block, forced to remain on the defensive. He was confident that with the power Maxwell had left inside his body, he could withstand Ashton’s attack.
All he had to do was wait out Ashton’s attack. Surely Ashton would run out of inner energy by then, which meant he’d be a sitting duck.
Clay knew he wasn’t fighting this battle alone, so there was absolutely no way Ashton could defeat him.
“You can’t defeat me, Ashton!” he roared, as if wanting to proclaim this to the entire world.
“Is that so? You’d better be as tough as you make yourself sound.”
Dark flames flickered in the depths of Ashton’s eyes. He’d already sensed that a terrifyingly powerful strength was supporting Clay from within. It didn’t matter to him, however. In fact, he became even more fired up.
The earlier clash had stirred his battle lust. He was eager to test the limits of his cultivation, and Clay was the perfect whetstone.
Punch after punch fell in rapid succession as Ashton kept Clay within the range of his attacks, making sure he couldn’t escape.
He’d been itching for an outlet for the aggression and ferocity that had been building up inside of him. As it was, he had a strong feeling that this fight would lead to even further advancement of his cultivation.
“Damn you!” Clay cursed.
He was like a human punching bag, forced to endure the punches. Even though he tried to draw upon his divine abilities, Ashton simply smashed his force to pieces before it could even take form.
“There’s no way you have limitless inner energy! I’ll just wait until you’ve exhausted everything!”
Like a vengeful ghost, Clay no longer cared about his dignity. He frantically drew upon the power Maxwell had left within him to maintain his defenses. But soon, he became even more panicked.
Ashton’s relentless barrage showed no sign of stopping or slowing. In fact, the attacks became more and more alarmingly powerful, while Clay’s defenses kept getting weaker. He was soon about to run out of inner energy himself.
Was Ashton some kind of monster?
