Chapter 609
The rain stung Clay’s wounds, flooding his senses with agonizing pain.
He looked absolutely miserable. His white attire had long since been ripped to shreds, while his hair was disheveled. Gritting his teeth, he struggled with all his remaining strength to get up, only for Ashton to kick him back down.
Clay’s body smashed into the ground once more, carving out another deep crater. His arms dangled limply at his sides, his energy nearly extinguished. Even his breathing started growing faint. Clearly, he’d been crushed in the fight.
From the moment Ashton used a single finger to block Clay’s attack, the tide of battle had utterly turned in his favor, and it had been absolute domination!
“Do you concede defeat?”
Ashton lifted his foot again and stomped down onto Clay’s face, grinding his head straight into the ground.
More and more blood seeped out of Clay’s body until he was drenched in red. Even the falling rain couldn’t wash the blood from him.
Ashton’s question rang in the ears of every vanguard. It also made the frenzied gamblers widen their eyes, their limbs growing cold. It was as if they’d sunk into the depths of hell.
“How could this happen? This is impossible! Didn’t Clay receive special training from Mr. Lademan? Wasn’t he supposed to be invincible among fellow transcendent realm experts? How could he suffer such a swift and decisive defeat? I don’t believe this is real! Ashton must’ve used some kind of trick!”
“It’s all over now… The Dominion Vanguard has utterly humiliated itself this time!”
“What a painful lesson this turned out to be. How did Clay even strike up the nerve to challenge Ashton anyway? The glory of the Dominion Vanguard is about to be thrown down the drain!”
“I bet all my assets on this…”
“So did I…”
The vanguards were in a panic. Everyone exchanged looks. The arrogance and confidence they once had were now completely gone. It was as if they had been viciously slapped across the face and taught a fierce lesson. One by one, they lowered their heads.
The sight of the Dominion Vanguard banners fluttering in the air was a stinging one now. They didn’t feel any pride or glory, only humiliation and defeat.
Meanwhile, the Northern Troops hoisted its banner in celebration. Some even started pounding the war drums.
The soldiers of the Northern Troops and all the legionnaires had their heads held high. They were bursting with pride.
Ashton had performed brilliantly in this match.
The show of dominance and peerless strength had brought glory back to the Legion, injecting them all with a dose of confidence. They felt as though they had returned to the time when the Legion had basked in the highest glory.
Lawrence’s laughter echoed throughout the arena as he stared at Ashton. He was over the moon.
For the past ten years, all he could do was watch as the Legion declined. They’d been constantly mocked as they slowly fell to ruin. During that time, he couldn’t find a successor capable of leading the Legion back to glory. Even he himself had been trapped in the situation, unable to break free.
More than once, even he had thought the Legion was doomed to fall apart.
But now, as he looked at the banner of the Northern Troops fluttering in the wind and stared at the man standing tall in the arena, he trembled with excitement. His heart filled with boundless hope for the future.
