Damian’s expression kept shifting. Deep down, he was silently praying for Ashton’s downfall–he couldn’t afford to lose this

wager.

Eunice shot Damian an irritated glare before her expression tensed up. Based on the fight she had just witnessed, she was fairly sure that Ashton was the Grim Reaper.

“If you’re truly Lord Reaper, then you would definitely win this fight!” Eunice shouted, “You still need to take responsibility for what you did. You owe me an explanation!”

Eunice was now staring at Ashton with a complicated look on her face. The two of them had slept together. Hence, she didn’t

know how she would face him after the battle was over.

“It looks like Ashton is about to meet his end, sir,” said Irina.

She sighed and looked at Ashton with pity. Given the opportunity to grow, he’d undoubtedly become a force to be reckoned with. In fact, he would probably turn into a living legend.

But once he was dead, he’d be forgotten in no time. To make matters worse, his name might even be dragged through the mud.

Flint felt relieved as well. In a hoarse voice, he said, “I thought that Ashton had already attained the semi–divine realm and was

just concealing his true strength. It looks like I had overestimated him.”

Irina froze. Flint seemed impossible to read, but she was also feeling slightly disappointed. She had been looking forward to seeing Ashton and Flint battle for control of the criminal underworld. But now, she didn’t think that moment would ever come.

Across from them, Julia frowned as she looked at Wanda, who was visibly on edge. She realized that her daughter was genuinely worried about Ashton. Her concern for him was written all over his face. Something was clearly wrong!

Had Wanda actually fallen for Ashton?

“Ashton is destined to die at the combat arena, Wanda. He can’t change his fate,” Julia spat coldly. “Wake up—the two of you can never be together!”

Wanda trembled. Biting her lip, she kept her eyes on Ashton as she declared, “He promised me he’ll win the fight. He’s a man of his word!”

“He promised?” Julia let out a mocking laugh. “When did you become so naive, Wanda?”
