Chapter 616
“H–How are you still alive?” Clay swallowed hard as he stared at Ashton’s cold, emotionless face. Then, he gradually became terrified.
Clay had fought his way through countless battles to get to where he was today. Yet none of his past opponents had ever unsettled or terrified him as Ashton did.
From the moment the life–or–death match began, Clay had felt like he was being suppressed at every turn. Now, that feeling was only growing stronger. Despite being a semi–divine realm expert, he couldn’t defeat Ashton no matter how hard he tried.
It was ridiculous! He was supposed to be a lot stronger than Ashton was. By all logic, the latter shouldn’t have stood a chance against him!
“Go to hell!” Clay growled.
He stopped thinking altogether. Suppressing his fear, he aggressively charged toward Ashton in a fit of rage. He refused to believe that Ashton was invincible.
Their figures collided once more. But this time, the spectators around them clearly sensed a change. Ashton seemed to have grown stronger, and he was no longer fully subdued by Clay’s semi–divine realm powers. In fact, he had even started to fight back. The battle had become a lot less one–sided.
“Quite whining like a coward,” Ashton sneered. “Is that all you’ve got? If that’s the case, you’re no threat to me at all!”
The Drakeborne lineage within his body coursed through his veins. With his newfound strength, he charged toward Clay and proceeded to fight with all his might. His attacks looked a lot more powerful as well.
Clay’s forehead was covered in cold sweat. He had come to a chilling conclusion. Even with his semi–divine realm powers, he couldn’t subdue or defeat Ashton. To make matters worse, the advantage he had obtained by being in a higher realm seemed to be dwindling as well.
As Ashton’s attacks grew increasingly aggressive, Clay was forced onto the defensive. Before the latter could gather his thoughts, Ashton roared, “Triple Lightning Strike!”
Ashton’s thunderous voice rang out in his Sea of Consciousness. Following a loud bang, dragon–like veins appeared on Ashton’s arm. Then, his aura grew stronger, and his demeanor began to resemble a wild and angry beast.
Ashton’s blood surged through his veins as he channeled his inner and spiritual energy into his fist. Once he fused fire and lightning into one, he tripled the power of The Lightning Strike and unleashed it in a single blow.
In the blink of an eye, the triple–powered Lightning Strike crushed everything in its path. Subsequently, it tore through the air until it finally collided with Clay’s attack.
Ashton possessed the strength of a transcendent realm expert, while Clay wielded the power of the semi–divine realm. Despite the gap between them, the pair were evenly matched. It was impossible to predict the winner of the match.
“What?”
Clay’s mouth went dry. He was in disbelief. He couldn’t understand how Ashton had managed to block his attack with just a single punch.
His face contorted with rage, and he proceeded to direct more of his power into his attacks. To his dismay, his efforts were to no
avail.
The flames and the lightning were consuming his powers. Because of this, the violent storm he had conjured was visibly fading
away as well.
“You-”
Clay met Ashton’s gaze and felt a searing pain in his eyes. It felt as though he was staring at death itself.
