Under the stimulation of the Drakell technique, Ashton’s gaze fixed on Eunice with a predatory lust, his eyes reflecting the primal hunger of a wild animal closing in on its hunt.

Eunice pursed her lips, sensing the searing energy Ashton sought to restrain–it was the same energy the Grim Reaper had exuded back at the statue of the Lady of Grace.

She realized that ever since she found out that Ashton and her beloved Grim Reaper were the same person, the confusion she had felt in the past vanished, replaced by total clarity.

She kept her eyes locked on Ashton. At that moment, the image of Ashton and the silhouette of the Grim Reaper aligned perfectly–a seamless match in every way.

She couldn’t help but tremble at that thought, struggling to accept the reality of the situation. She never thought that the man she had constantly disparaged in her venting sessions with Roxy was the same Grim Reaper she adored above all others.

She found it hard to believe that he was the one who had claimed her innocence and utterly captivated her heart and mind.

Ashton noticed the shift in Eunice’s emotions, but he remained indifferent. He brushed past her without a word, intent on

taking his leave.

Eunice, however, caught hold of Ashton in the following moment, her voice quivering with emotion as she asked, “You’re the Grim Reaper, aren’t you, Ashton? You can’t deny it anymore! I witnessed your fight with Clay today. When your fury was

unleashed, you were the mirror image of the Grim Reaper.

“I felt that same overwhelming presence and pressure. My memory would never betray me on this!”

Ashton’s heart sank in alarm as he inwardly cursed his carelessness. He had completely overlooked this in the midst of the fight.

“You’re mistaken,” Ashton stated flatly. He had no desire to get mixed up with Eunice right now.

He figured he was better off staying away from Eunice, whose beauty far outstripped her wit.

“I couldn’t have made a mistake!” Eunice declared with absolute conviction.

Ashton sighed and asked, “What difference does it make if I’m this Grim Reaper that you speak of?”

Eunice shuddered after hearing that. She realized then that she had completely overlooked the consequences of her discovery. She was still head–over–heels for the Grim Reaper, but knowing that he was Ashton–Roxy’s ex–husband–changed everything.

She was terrified of how she would ever explain herself to Roxy if the truth came out.

“I…” Eunice’s brow furrowed as she stood there, taking Ashton in.

She found that her previous disgust for Ashton had vanished after confirming that he was the Grim Reaper, replaced by a sense of wonder. He seemed different now–shrouded in mystery and possessed of a lethal magnetism that was slowly pulling her

under.

“You were actually the one who saved Celia back then… You actually possess those medical skills… You’re even the man Mr. Clarkson Senior handpicked to lead the Legion…” Eunice muttered beneath her breath.

She suddenly found that Ashton seemed like a different person to her.

His stern, untamed visage and the profound mysteries hidden within his gaze were intoxicating, drawing her into a fascination from which she could find no escape.
