Chapter 641
“What are you doing, Eunice?” Ashton cocked his brow in confusion. He had absolutely no idea what was going on inside. Eunice’s head.
Eunice froze for a moment before replying solemnly, “You’re coming with me to a place that will verify your identity as the Grim Reaper beyond any doubt. I…”
She trailed off as she stared intently at Ashton. She then continued, her voice quivering with emotion while saying, “I won’t bother you anymore after tonight.”
“Alright then,” Ashton stated flatly.
He had no idea what Eunice was up to, but he could tell that it was going to be another complication he didn’t want to deal with. He only thought that the best outcome for everyone involved would be to bring their entanglement to an end once the night was
over.
They walked through the night in silence, one following the other.
It wasn’t long before Ashton realized something was off. They were heading straight for the church where that fateful night had unfolded. He couldn’t help but wonder what Eunice was playing at.
He hesitated for a moment before saying, “You don’t need to obsess over whether I’m the Grim Reaper, Eunice. You’re still who you are, and I’m still who I am–nothing has to change.”
Eunice remained silent as she led Ashton inside, stopping right before the statue of the Lady of Grace. She stared at the exact spot where they had been intimate that night, her heart pounding in her chest as she asked, “Do you remember this place, Ashton?”
Ashton fell silent. He was busy reminding himself of a hard truth–certain women were far more trouble than they were worth, and sleeping with them was a recipe for disaster.
“I’m sorry, but I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Ashton replied. He didn’t want to dodge his responsibility, but he had bigger problems to deal with at that moment.
He knew that if word got out that he was the deputy head of the Legion, it would bring an eternity of strife and a mounting tide of assassins. He had to keep his role as the future head of the Legion a secret until he ascended to the divine realm.
“Do you really have no idea?” Eunice bit her lip, feeling the sting of Ashton’s rejection.
She looked at him with a hint of grievance and asked, “Do you really hate me that much, Ashton?”
Ashton let out a weary sigh and turned to walk away. He still hadn’t figured out what to do about Eunice or how to deal with the mess between them.
Eunice suddenly spread her arms to bar Ashton’s path, her eyes brimming with newfound conviction. She didn’t hesitate as she unfastened her garments right there in front of him. The soft fabric cascaded to the floor, leaving her elegant curves and porcelain skin fully exposed.
Ashton was suddenly confronted with her breathtaking beauty, displayed with absolute clarity.
In that instant, the heat between them flared, the air growing heavy with tension as the atmosphere thickened and charged. Ashton’s throat tightened as his eyes ignited with an untamable flame. He could feel the Drakell technique within him churning with a ravenous intensity, transforming him into a savage beast that had caught the scent of prey.
He fixed his sight upon Eunice, his eyes brimming with a look of pure aggression.
“I remember this… That day, you were just as fierce, just as out of control,” Eunice muttered, her face burning with a feverish blush.
