Ashton had always possessed a powerful intuition. He felt that destiny was weaving his life together with these ordained women, as if an unseen force were orchestrating every meeting with these diverse and stunning individuals.
It was then that a furious voice cut through the crowd. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Ashton and Wanda were taken aback. They turned to see Connor, the heir of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion–the very man
Wanda was betrothed to.
It seemed fate had a cruel sense of humor, forcing another encounter between these rivals so soon.
As Connor watched Ashton and Wanda’s intimate, suggestive behavior and took in Wanda’s provocative purple dress, his eyes were blazing with rage. He felt the sting of betrayal more sharply than before, his public humiliation growing even more vast.
It was then that a young man who bore a striking resemblance to Connor looked on and asked in confusion, “Isn’t that Wanda, your fiancee? Why did she show up with another man, Connor?
Connor remained silent, staring fixedly at Wanda. He couldn’t believe that this bitch had the nerve to show up with Ashton in broad daylight, acting like they were joined at the hip. He felt that it was a total insult to his status as the heir of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion.
Upon sensing Connor’s boiling rage, Wanda didn’t pull away from Ashton. Instead, she leaned even harder into Ashton, playing the part of the doting wife to perfection.
Even if she ultimately couldn’t escape her forced marriage with Connor, she was determined to provoke his disgust while she was still unmarried.
She gambled on the hope that the humiliation would be too much for Connor’s pride, and he would break off the engagement of his own accord.
“Have you actually been cuckolded, Connor? Who the hell is this guy? Does he have a death wish or something?”
Francis McGrath, Connor’s brother, wore a mask of pure astonishment, though he was inwardly loving every second of it. He lived for moments like this, watching Connor getting dragged through the mud.
“Shut up!” Connor snapped, glaring at Francis. “You’d better not think that marrying Faye gives you the right to covet my position as the heir of the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. You’ll never inherit the Heavenly Medical Pavilion as long as I’m still alive!
Francis chuckled sheepishly before saying hurriedly, “You shouldn’t take this the wrong way, Connor. I wasn’t implying anything of the sort. I was simply feeling indignant on your behalf, seeing you put in such a position…”
Connor’s face clouded over with malice as he looked toward George. “You should get rid of these people, Mr. Moore! They have no business being here while the people from the Heavenly Medical Pavilion are performing Faye’s treatment!”
George was taken aback, his profound gaze sweeping toward Ashton, who looked back at him at the same time. Their gazes met, and an unspoken tension crackled in the air, like two powerful forces colliding in silence.
George averted his gaze and shifted his attention to his wife, Josie Lockwood. “Is this the person you invited over, Josie?” “You’ve finally brought him over, Wanda. I’ve been waiting for you for a very long time! Get over here!”
It was then that an impeccably dressed middle–aged woman approached Wanda and Ashton, her face glowing with a welcoming smile. She looked toward Ashton, appearing visibly impressed by his striking looks.
She then pulled Wanda into a private huddle and asked eagerly, “Is this the man you’ve been talking about, Wanda? Is this Ashton Gray, the divine doctor that you promised could save Faye?”
