“How about we take a moment to reconsider this, Josie?” George asked hesitatingly.

Josie wavered for a moment before locking eyes with Ashton, saying, “You have to be honest with me, Ash. Do you really think you can rouse Faye from her coma? You wouldn’t lie to me, would you?”

“I’m 100% certain that I can rouse Faye from her coma, Mrs. Moore! I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this!” Ashton declared with conviction.

Josie suddenly declared, “You should go ahead and treat Faye, then! I’ll take the heat if anything goes wrong! Get moving- every second we wait is just more suffering for Faye!”

George looked as though he wanted to intervene, but he hesitated and pulled back. He eventually just let out a weary sigh and remained silent, effectively stepping aside to let Ashton attempt the treatment.

Ashton approached Faye’s side, mesmerized by her beauty all over again.

He fought the urge to reach out and touch her face, all while the Drakell technique within him surged violently, pushing him to claim this woman and her Phoenixborne lineage. His Drakeborne lineage flared up in response, sending a searing heat through his body like flowing magma.

He was overcome by a pure, instinctual desperation to claim her.

“Go ahead and state it!” George commanded, his gaze sweeping over Ashton as he appraised him.

“I want the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma in your possession if I manage to wake Faye up from her coma!” Ashton declared. He remembered his main goal for visiting the Moore family–possessing the spiritual medicine needed to repair Lawrence’s damaged divine soul.

George furrowed his brow, appearing to be in deep thought.

Josie, without waiting for George’s reply, immediately agreed to Ashton’s request. “You’ve got a deal, Ash! You’ll be our son–in- law and part of the Moore family once you save Faye! You’ll naturally own everything that belongs to the Moore family! Isn’t that right, George?”

George’s expression flickered with surprise before he exhaled a weary breath. “I’ll hand over the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma as long as you can save Faye!”

“Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Moore!” Ashton exclaimed, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders.

He looked at Faye with a dark, eerie glint in his eyes, traces of black flame igniting within them. He then pulled out nine silver needles from his sleeve and drove them into Faye’s vital acupoints, causing wisps of black inner energy to surge through the needles and sink deep into Faye’s body.

He had just breached into Faye’s body with his inner energy when his body shook violently, and a deafening sound filled his ears. He caught a glimpse of a Phoenix roaring in fury, seeking to incinerate and crush every trace of his inner energy.

In the blink of an eye, Faye’s brow furrowed in pain, her condition taking a sharp turn for the worse as her vitals began to drop drastically.

That sudden change caught George and Josie completely off guard, terrifying them.
