Ashton got up and tucked the blanket over Whitney’s body. Then, he brushed his finger over her nose and declared, “When the time comes, I’ll deliver the Sage’s head to you on a silver platter!”

“Okay.” Whitney nodded obediently.

Shortly afterward, Ashton left to meet the Sage’s sons at a secret coffeehouse.

“What are you doing here?” Clive and Ivan asked simultaneously.
