It was known to all that the ruler of the criminal underworld of every territory rose to power through bloodshed and that the fights for control were always brutal and blunt.
If one wanted to reach the top, one had to cut through all opposition. It was as simple as it was violent.
Howls and shouts echoed through the surroundings. There was a group of gamblers who went berserk, roaring and cursing, with most of them condemning Ashton. They wished to see him collapse in his own pool of blood and die a brutal death on the
stage.
In that instant, the atmosphere grew increasingly heated as the heat rose in waves.
“You’d better come up here to meet your end, Ashton!”
Felix left a trail of shadows as he charged the deathmatch stage. He was brimming with killing intent as he stared fixedly at Ashton with his bloodshot eyes.
He sought vengeance for Clay. As Clay’s cultivation guardian, he had watched him grow up since childhood and always expected him to become the head of the Dominion Vanguard.
He despised Ashton for ruining everything and wanted nothing more than to end Ashton’s life.
In that instant, the killing intent of the semi–divine realm expert swept across the area like a gale, and those in attendance felt the weight of the killing intent and the profound hatred Felix harbored for Ashton.
“Felix is emanating such an overwhelming killing intent! I can’t believe that the Sage actually sent out Felix, a powerhouse of the semi–divine realm, as the opening fighter! He might not be as strong as he once was, but his semi–divine realm status makes him more than a match for Ashton!”
“It’s clear that the Sage has no intention of letting the fight drag on. He intends to display Ashton’s head to demonstrate that he is the one and only ruler of the criminal underworld of Javonbury by finishing Ashton off in the first round.”
“I mean, Felix dotes on Clay like a son, so Ashton probably won’t get even a shred of mercy in this fight. I’d surrender on the spot if I were Ashton. I’m certain Ashton can’t survive more than a couple of exchanges with Felix.”
“You should just give up, Ashton!”
In that instant, a chorus of taunts rose against Ashton. It was apparent that Flint had strategically placed certain people in the crowd to jeer at him, hoping to shatter his focus before the fight truly began.
In a fight where lives were on the line, every small detail mattered, and a solitary moment was all it took to tilt the scales between triumph and disaster.
It wasn’t long before the crowd erupted in a chorus of boos against Ashton, while the Sage’s faction reached its peak momentum, making it feel as if victory was just a step away.
Ashton’s allies, on the other hand, looked grim, with the legionnaires looking particularly uneasy, as they understood the true threat Felix posed. They knew exactly how formidable an adversary he was, specifically citing his speed as being utterly terrifying.
“You shouldn’t force yourself, Ashton,” Neil said, lowering his voice.
“You have nothing to worry about, Mr. Bloomberg. Felix is just an old–timer who’s way past his prime. You should just prepare yourself to wave the victory flag for me!” Ashton exclaimed with a chuckle, paying no attention to the taunts echoing around
him.
He was thinking about how he could turn his enemies into tools for his own growth and sought a way to use the intensity of the life–or–death match to fully integrate the stolen spiritual energy into his very being.
“Do you want me to go first, Ashton?” Faye asked, her eyes gleaming. She had never seen Ashton fight before and wasn’t quite

“You don’t need to do that! You should just sit back and watch how your boyfriend slaughters them all!” Ashton declared with a
grin.
Faye pouted slightly and shot Ashton a glare. She could feel the Phoenixborne lineage stirring within her as she said with a scoff, “I’m not claiming you as my boyfriend if you lose embarrassingly, Ashton! It’d be way too humiliating for me!”
