In all honesty, Natalie didn’t really believe that Ashton could treat the parasitic poison in her. After all, she’d tried numerous methods and consulted with countless renowned doctors.

But what if he could?

The pain made life a living hell, and it had tormented her to her limit. If she couldn’t find a treatment for her condition anytime soon, her only escape was death.

She also wanted to know for sure whether Hank had poisoned her–and how Ashton knew everything.

Natalie and Ashton walked shoulder–to–shoulder as they headed toward Evermore Club. Everyone else was still bewildered.

Just moments ago, Natalie had been quite hostile with Ashton. It looked as if she would drop all pretense of civility with him at any given moment. Yet, in the blink of an eye, the two were like old friends. They were even walking such an intimate distance with each other.

What on earth was going on?

“Ms. York! What do you intend to discuss with Ashton?” Roxy asked with a forced smile, even though her expression was quite dark.

She couldn’t figure out what kind of trick Ashton had pulled to convince Natalie to head to Evermore Club with him.

“Ms. Sloan, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to report to you about where I’m going and what I discuss with anyone,” Natalie remarked curtly.

Roxy hastily clarified, “I didn’t mean that, Ms. York. I just=”

“Since that’s not what you meant, you should step aside now,” Natalie said firmly.

Roxy could only retreat to the side and shoot a displeased glare at Ashton. However, he ignored her completely and escorted Natalie into Evermore Club.

“Roxy, Ashton must’ve used some kind of reprehensible trick!” Calvin fumed with a bitter expression.

He couldn’t understand how Ashton always managed to steal the spotlight!

Roxy clenched her fists as she watched Ashton from behind. For the first time, he felt like a total stranger to her. Perhaps she never really understood him, the man she shared a bed with for many years.

Shaking her head, she said, “Regardless of what he says to Natalie, it won’t change the fact that Yorkshore Group will be exclusively supplying liquor to Summit Lounge.

“This is only possible because of the relationship we established over many years of cooperation. Ashton can’t change that with a few crude words. Natalie isn’t the kind of person to act impulsively either.”

“That’s good to hear. Let’s see if he can still act all smug when Evermore Club goes bankrupt!” Calvin said. He continued to curse Ashton on the inside.

Hank kept his head low. The handprint on his face was still smarting.

“You forced my hand, Natalie!” he muttered to himself.

He planned on hastening Natalie’s demise. He wasn’t worried about what Ashton and Natalie were discussing. Confident that he’d done a flawless and undetectable job of poisoning Natalie, he didn’t think anyone in Javonbury would be able to detect anything.

Inside Evermore Club, all eyes were on Ashton and Natalie

“Arrange a secluded private room for us, Ms. Hammond,” Ashton said.

“This way, please, Mr. Gray, Ms. York.”

Felice’s heart was pounding. She’d truly seen firsthand what it meant when someone acted with raw, unbending power.

If Ashton did manage to convince Natalie to supply liquor to Evermore Club, then today marked the rebirth of the club!

“Call me if you need anything, Ashton,” Sylvia said in a sweet voice. She scooted close to him as if to stake her claim in front of Natalie.

Once Ashton and Natalie were alone in a private room, her expression turned cold.

She stared at him with a domineering, scrutinizing gaze and said, “Go on. Tell me how long you’ve been investigating me. How did you know I’d been poisoned?

“If you’re unable to give me a satisfactory explanation today, then not even Sylvia can save you!”

“Don’t you get tired of putting up a strong front like that, Ms. York?” Ashton remarked.
