Chapter 78
Natalie had consulted with numerous renowned doctors, but none of them could do anything. They couldn’t even find anything wrong with her. By every measurable indicator, she seemed to be in perfect health.
She alone was aware of the excruciating pain she had to endure every day. It was bad enough that she was tempted to just end her life.
“This is a scheme to murder for profit, and the culprit is none other than Hank Shelton, the one you trust the most,” Ashton declared.
“That’s impossible! Hank is family to me!”
“You may consider him family, but he might not feel the same way. Think about it. Who stands to gain the most from your death? Once you’re gone, who will take over Yorkshore Group?”
Natalie fell silent. After a while, she shook her head. “I won’t believe it without proof.”
“Ms. York, the parasitic poison plaguing you isn’t something that could’ve been planted overnight. Give it some thought. Is there any specific thing that you consume regularly? Only through prolonged exposure can the poison penetrate so deeply into your brain,” Ashton said grimly.
Natalie’s brows tightened as she recalled the cup of herbal tea Hank would prepare for her every da

Ashton continued, “The parasitic poison isn’t incurable, Ms. York, but if you delay any longer, there’s no guarantee it’ll remain that way.”
Natalie stiffened at his words. She stared fixedly at him and asked, her voice even shakier now, “Are you saying you can treat it?”
“Why don’t you join me in my Evermore Club, Ms. York? We can find a quiet spot and have a proper talk about this, “Ashton said with a smile.
After a brief silence, Natalie said, “When you approached me just now and plucked a strand of my hair, was it to confirm whether or not I’ve been poisoned?”
“You are indeed a smart woman, Ms. York.”
Natalie studied Ashton carefully. Surprisingly, she suddenly found that it was hard to get a read on him.
“Don’t listen to Ashton, Nat. Hurry up and get someone to teach him a lesson! If we just drop this matter, it won’t only be me who’s humiliated. Both you and Yorkshore Group would be disgraced as well!” Hank hastily cried out.
He’d begun to feel an inexplicable sense of panic when he saw Ashton and Natalie getting more and more engaged in conversation. He even reached out to pull Natalie away from Ashton.
However, Natalie abruptly turned around and eyed him coldly, questioning, “Did I say you could come over?”
“What’s gotten into you, Nat…‘
Hank froze.
At first, Natalie had only suspected that she’d been poisoned. She’d never gotten suspicious of Hank. After all, he was the only family she had left. But after hearing what Ashton said, she started recalling some of his strange behaviors.
“It’s nothing. Wait for me here. I’m making a quick trip to Evermore Club.”
“Huh? What did you say, Nat? You’re heading over to Evermore Club?” Hank exclaimed, his emotions getting the

better of him.
Brimming with rage once more, he wagged his finger at Ashton and howled, “What did you say to Nat, you piece of trash! I’m telling you right now. I won’t let you get away with this! You’re going to pay for slapping me with your life!
“Let’s go, Nat! Don’t listen to his bullshit!”
Hank’s gut instincts were giving him a strong warning–he mustn’t let Natalie spend any more time with Ashton. Otherwise, he was done for!
He desperately tried to pull Natalie away with him, but she slapped him across the face, snapping, “I told you to wait here for me. Did you not hear what I said?”
Turning back to Ashton, she said rather eagerly, “Let’s head inside Evermore Club and have a proper chat, Mr. Gray.”
