Logan wanted to buy his way out of a death sentence.

Lawrence spared Logan a glance and shook his head. “I might have been tempted in the past. Do you believe the Legion of today has any need for your 100 million dollars, Logan?”

Logan’s expression immediately shifted. Once Ashton became the new ruler of the criminal underworld of Javonbury, at least a third of the Soo–billion–dollar wager would be allocated to the Legion, which meant the Legion would possess ample capital for its development.

Upon realizing this, Logan felt a surge of panic. He knew that the Empyrean Sentinel would be in grave danger if the Legion. regained its power, potentially nullifying all their past efforts and plots.

Lawrence’s gaze shifted as he sneered. “In view of the fact that the Empyrean Sentinel and the Legion are part of the same parent organization, I’ll offer you a way out, Logan. You’ll have to get on your knees and grovel before Ashton while admitting your guilt.

“You also have to turn over ten–billion–dollar worth of spirit mine ores and vow that the Empyrean Sentinel will never return to Javonbury. You have to break your arms as well–and only then will we call it even.”

That declaration sparked immediate fury among the entire Empyrean Sentinel ranks. They knew very well that it was a blatant, calculated insult to the organization and its leader. There was no middle ground or room for a deal here.

They knew that if Logan actually kneeled and apologized to Ashton, the entire organization would have been permanently disgraced in the eyes of the Legion.

“You’re taking this too far, Mr. Clarkson Senior!” Logan growled through gritted teeth.

Lawrence scoffed. “You think I’m taking this too far, huh? Do you expect the life of the head of the Empyrean Sentinel to be spared so easily? I have already stated my terms, Logan. You’re entitled to reject them, but if you do, don’t blame me for the consequences once that door is closed.”
