George studied Ashton for a long moment, his expression unreadable as he looked at the man who might one day become his
son–in–law.
“Ashton, listen to me. Don’t make an enemy of Mr. Lowery. Siding with him would be your best option. If you insist on standing against him, then you and I will have no choice but to stand on opposite sides,” he said.
Ashton frowned and exchanged a glance with Faye. He had already considered this possibility.
Flint and George had both been promoted by Cassian, which was how they had controlled the criminal underworld and the establishment for years. That alone made it clear that Cassian was the real threat.
“Mr. Moore, I respect your choice. But you should respect mine as well. In ten days, I’ll kill Cassian. After that, you won’t have to answer to anyone.”
George’s eyes turned cold, but he said nothing.
“And who is the third person?” Ashton pressed on. He wanted to know exactly who he’d be facing in ten days.
“The other person… I doubt she’s a stranger to you,” Cassian replied with a faint knowing smile.
He turned and walked toward Roxy before addressing her politely.
“Ms. Sloan, would you be interested in joining my team? In ten days, we’ll face Ashton in a match that will decide who controls
Javonbury.
“If we win, the three of us will share authority over the city. Summit Group will rise to prominence and become one of the leading powers here. We can use it as a base to expand beyond Javonbury.”
The proposal sent another shock through the crows, leaving them reeling. No one had expected Cassian to name Roxy as his
third member.
The choice made no sense. She was only an SS–ranked expert, nowhere near strong enough for a fight that would decide the
city’s fate.
“Don’t you know Ms. Sloan is Ashton’s ex–wife? Back then, he gave up everything just to be with her. But in the end, it didn’t last. She was the one who filed for divorce. They’re practically enemies now.”
“Now it makes sense. The King of Javonbury choosing her wasn’t accidental. He’s either trying to rattle Ashton before the fight or disgrace him in front of everyone.”
A low chuckle came from somewhere in the crowd.
“If she accepts, it’s going to be ex–husband versus ex–wife in a life–or–death match ten days from now. That’ll be one hell of a
spectacle.”
“I have a feeling Cassian has something else in mind. A man who controls both the underworld and the establishment doesn’t make a move without a reason.”
“Do you think she’ll accept?”
All eyes turned to Roxy as the crowd waited for her answer.
Just then, Eunice pushed through the crowd.
“Roxy, don’t,” she said urgently, shaking her head.
“That man isn’t trustworthy. He must have ulterior motives. If you cooperate with him, nothing good will come of it. Ashton… You may be divorced, but you once loved each other. Don’t forget you still have Celia. Please don’t agree to his proposal.”

Chapter 808
Roxy’s brows lifted slightly as she studied Cassian with open skepticism.
“Why me? We’ve never even met. And my cultivation level wouldn’t be much help to you.”
