Chapter 807
“You’re underestimating yourself, Ms. Sloan,” Cassian said. “You possess a once–in–a–generation Primordial Innate constitution. How could you possibly be of no use to me?”
A trace of undisguised lust flickered in his eyes when he looked at Roxy. But he masked it instantly, his expression settling back into polished calm.
“If you’re willing to join my side, my family possesses secret methods that can elevate your cultivation dramatically in a short period of time without any side effects.”
She hesitated and glanced at Ashton out of the corner of her eye.
Cassian continued, “Ms. Sloan, think this through. If Ashton becomes the King of Javonbury, you’ll lose the bet and won’t be able to keep custody of your daughter.
“Do you really want your daughter growing up at his side? Watching him rise while you stand below him? Are you ready to admit that divorcing him was a mistake?”
He seemed to see straight through Roxy. Every word he spoke struck exactly where it hurt.
“Don’t you want to prove you’re better than him? Now is your best chance to prove yourself.”
She trembled faintly as the truth of Cassian’s words settled over her. If Ashton became the King of Javonbury, she would lose the bet. Everything she had done would become a joke.
“Fine,” she said at last, giving a small nod. “I’ll work with you.”
“Roxy…”
Disappointment spread across Eunice’s face, and her heart sank.
“Great.” Cassian laughed. “Once this is over, I’ll see that your mother’s stomach disorder is fully treated. She won’t have to suffer anymore. Whatever Ashton can offer, I can offer more.”
Long before making this move, he had already looked into every detail about Ashton and Roxy. As the Lowery family’s appointed heir, he never stepped into a fight without the upper hand.
Now that he had made his move, he intended to win decisively and make his name known across the region. After all, Javonbury would be the first territory under his control, and he had no intention of giving it up.
“Thank you, Mr. Lowery,” Roxy replied with a faint smile.
Roxy convinced herself this was the rational choice. Aligning with Cassian would strengthen her position in the custody dispute over Celia, protect her career, and allow her to continue advancing her cultivation level. She chose to see it as an opportunity and refused to question whether it was right or wrong.
“No need to thank me. Perhaps one day we’ll be the kind of pair people envy.”
Cassian kept the mask of a gentleman, but the desire in his eyes was impossible to miss.
If he could win Roxy’s willing submission, her Primordial Innate Constitution would allow him to comprehend the true laws of the universe and push his cultivation level even higher.
Opportunities like that didn’t come often. He was determined to have Roxy and make her submit of her own accord.
A moment later, Cassian lifted his chin and looked toward Ashton with the confidence of a victor.
“I’ve chosen my three people,” he said evenly. “What about you? Who will you choose to face me?”
