Chapter 810
Half an hour later, Ashton and the others returned to Lawrence’s residence.
The moment they entered the secret chamber and stepped inside the barrier–sealed space, Lawrence spat out a mouthful of dark blood. The wounds on his body could no longer hold, splitting open at once as fresh blood burst through his clothes.
“Grandpa!”
Kayla’s face turned pale. She rushed forward to support him, her body trembling.
“I’m fine,” he said between gasps, then forced a grin.
“At least, I held on long enough. Those old fools were probably scared out of their wits when I killed Logan today. After this, those factions should keep their heads down for a while.
“The only problem is, I’m old now. Otherwise, Cassian wouldn’t even dare step forward. I’d have put him down right there with the Sixfold Carnage Fist, and that would’ve been the end of it.”
Kayla pressed her lips together and helped Lawrence sit down.
“Lie down, and let Ashton treat you with acupuncture,” she said.
“Ash, are you still holding up?” Lawrence asked, concern evident in his voice.
“I’m fine.”
Ashton had already taken out 12 silver needles. He inserted them one by one into Lawrence’s vital acupoints, quickly stabilizing his condition.
Ten minutes later, he finished the final cycle of the Ninefold Arcane Technique. His expression turned grim.
“The divine soul you just restored has torn again. Even your fatal injuries have worsened. If you use your inner and spiritual energy again, you won’t survive. No one will be able to save you.”
Lawrence waved it off with a smile. “So, that means I’m not dying this time either? Ash, your medical skills keep improving.”
“Mr. Clarkson Senior.” Ashton’s tone sharpened. “Promise me you won’t use your power again. Stay in bed. Watch me take control of Javonbury and lead the Legion back to glory.”
“Fine. I’ll give you my word,” Lawrence replied.
Only then did Ashton slowly release a breath, but the color quickly drained from his face. After that duel, he had barely rested. He had been holding himself together by force of will alone. In truth, his internal injuries had already become severe.
“I’ll take my leave now.”
He swallowed the blood rising in his throat. A violent, barely restrained intensity flickered in his eyes. He needed a partner for dual cultivation. It was the fastest and most effective way to recover.
“Are you all right?”
Kayla walked him out. She could clearly sense the turmoil in his emotions, and concern filled her voice.
“I’m fine. Just take care of Mr. Clarkson Senior. I’ll visit him another day.”
Ashton quickened his pace.
She stepped forward and blocked his path. Her lips parted slightly, and she asked, “Is there anything I can do to help?”
He looked at her, puzzled.

The energy of her Divine Arcane Constitution had clearly begun to stir, rippling with an unmistakable undertone. A flush rose across her face.
Ashton’s eyes sharpened slightly. A surge of restless desire stirred within him, rising before he could restrain it.
Right now, he felt like a starving beast fighting instinct. And to him, Kayla was like perfect prey, stirring a surge of desire so raw it nearly broke through his restraint.
He stepped forward and backed her into the corner.
Her body pressed against the wall. She felt the warmth of his breath, and her heart pounded. She had already guessed his method of cultivation. If she cultivated with him, he could recover.
“Are you sure you want to help me?”
Ashton’s chest pressed against Kayla’s. The Drakell technique raged inside him. He lifted her chin and fixed his gaze on her eyes.
“I…” she trailed off, her body trembling.
Biting her lips, images of everything he had done for the Legion flashed through her mind. Her face burned. After hesitating for a moment, she nodded.
